so those are all the new hero features-- what about the downsides, negatives, possible slowdowns and bugs?
It can't be all Disneyland can it?
It can't be all Disneyland can it?
Yeah, you're probably right. I've long thought that I should part my hair on the other side because that's what I look like in the mirror and the way it looks right to me. For photos that others are going to see, I would rather it be the way they see me, not the vanity of how I see my own reflection. Maybe that's just me.Oh, so many people spend so much time posing for their selfies and then they get un-mirrored and they think they look awful. Just another unfortunate side effect of the beauty industry. It’s like those lenses on Snap (not to be repetitive lmao) that literally change peoples’ bone structure…people get used to it and they gotta have it be like that.
won't they really add night mode support for other models ugh, the sensor different between the xs and 11 is not that big at all, it's pure software
Just would be nice if that was supported by all devices that support iOS 14.Uh, wish granted? It sounds like holding down on volume up/down will do either one - up gets you photos, down gets you video.
Doesn't seem like that's the kind of thing that this particular article is about.so those are all the new hero features-- what about the downsides, negatives, possible slowdowns and bugs?
It can't be all Disneyland can it?
It’s hardware - just not the one you think. The night mode is accelerated by the image co-processor that older devices don’t have.won't they really add night mode support for other models ugh, the sensor different between the xs and 11 is not that big at all, it's pure software
They already do - swipe to the left for burst, swipe to the right for quick take. But I wish they’d allow to swap the default to burst.Just for once I wish Apple would give me a choice. Seriously. Let me decide whether I want video or photo burst. Spoiler: It definitely won't be video.
It's because apps like Snapchat and Instagram stories made it popular. If you use these apps you'd know that a long press means video. I think Samsung did it first with the Note 10 as they claimed it will record directly to your Instagram story.I never understand the change of pressing the shutter button. For a decade (?) or so, the smartphone industry have taught users that pressing the shutter button will result in burst shots. Video has always been a separate button or mode for obvious reason.
Now who had the smart idea at Apple to change this behavior? I mean why? I don't see anybody complaining that they expected video recording from a photo taking mode.
I think they just want their selfies to match what is shown on the screen when they take them. So, let me get this straight... people actually want their selfies to be backwards ie a mirror image? Really?! Hunh...
It must have been available in the 1st or 2nd beta which I may have not installed I guess I have a X too and I’ve yet to see the mirror feature. I emailed the editor a week or two ago to make it known that not all the camera features are available on models older than the XS. Not sure if they ever did.Are the new camera settings iPhone XS and up only? I had the mirror camera setting in an earlier beta but it's been missing on my iPhone X for the past 2ish public betas.
Maybe to get all the money that comes from all those folks upgrading from iOS 13?Question is why did it take Apple to enable some of these in ios 14, instead of immediately in ios 13? This only feeds into the "apple holding features back" narrative.
I think that’s a convenience thing, not a security thing. It’s not hidden as in “protected” it’s hidden as in “when you’re scrolling through your images, you’ll never want these to be a part of any project, so you can choose not to see them.” Plus, no one can even get to the Photos app without authenticating to the device, so the Photos are already protected.why isn’t the hidden photo album password protected! still
For Location Data, I’d like for them to use AI, detect landmarks in the photo and suggest to update the “location” of that picture. For example, if I travel with a group and someone shares photos with me from their higher quality camera that we all took from a similar vantage point, I’d like those higher quality un-tagged photos to have the option to be tagged the same as another photo, taken within minutes, with the same general landscape/compsition.Now we just need Keyword, Title, and Location Data edit and then we'd be inching closer to the MacOS app. Still needs better support for making and editing Smart Albums on at iPhone or iPad too.
Ah, good point. It's because apps like Snapchat and Instagram stories made it popular. If you use these apps you'd know that a long press means video. I think Samsung did it first with the Note 10 as they claimed it will record directly to your Instagram story.
Camera Performance and Shooting Speed
Apple in iOS 14 added speed and efficiency improvements to the Camera app. You can capture photos up to 90 percent faster, at up to four frames per second. The time it takes to get your first shot after opening the app is now 25 percent faster, and capturing portraits is 15 percent faster shot to shot.
In 2019 I couldn't see anyone upgrading to an iphone 11 due to those specific features only. Add in the entire package of night site, better battery life, better/brighter screen, etc and maybe.Maybe to get all the money that comes from all those folks upgrading from iOS 13?...
