I'd rather have 100 minor updates and one fine tuned major upgrade every 2-3 years instead of the annual, "we need to jump up a number to go with the new phone" model they are using.
No most people was new features iOS 15 is mega boring and there will always be bugs no matter what, iOS 16 should be a huge update

Can we please stop with annual "new" iOS releases?

They end up just trickling out features slowly over time anyhow, and their rush and insistence to push out a new version number each Fall just creates a new set of problems every single year -- some that never really get fixed.
new products/devices bring new features that require new OS versions, so, you are asking to not release new products yearly?

Those analytics are interesting - curious why 15.4 was seen earlier than 15.3... but I suppose that all depends on how many users are being shown there for each graph

That’s not going to happen. How else is Apple going to make money and generate billion of dollars of profit???

It suggests Apple was targeting iOS 15.4 as a big release even many months ago and has been putting a lot of work into it. iOS 15.3 looks to be more of a filler bug-fix release, so they didn't really start much on it until iOS 15.2 development was wrapping up.

Besides universal control what big features are they pushing into spring? Haven’t heard of anything else “big” they pushed back
They delayed driver licenses, I also haven’t heard anything about home keys in wallet. Although both of those could be a partners thing rather than Apple’s choice.

Why is Apple still acting like it's 1990 and that they have to send out floppy disks in the mail to provide updates?

No software vendor on the planet comes out with huge, gigantic, device-breaking annual releases anymore — and then scrambles to fix all the bugs from that gigantic release for the next 11 months.

All software companies just continually release updates throughout the year.

Apple should take the same approach.

And this is exactly why Apple should never get into the car business. Lol.

for a second my brain went like "omg the first beta of iOS 13 already leaked this early?!" and then I went "oh never mind, we are on 15 already" :D

---

also it is time for Apple to go the Google route and release App updates unrelated to a big software release. Why can't they push updates to Mail, Safari etc. without requiring a whole OS update

My understanding is that it was already made available on Apple’s servers. So probably something has happened unintentionally.
Yeah, it was probably an issue with a private/in house CDN Server link or something becoming public briefly. And I'm sure people have apps like Download Full Installer, but for iOS/iPadOS. Actually... That's a good idea...

Nice! Give us small updates and continue to tighten up 15.

I just had Books (Books!) quit on me when I selected the mail option on the share sheet. Right back to the Home Screen. Hello iOS 8 ?

Let’s hope there is an update soon - iOS 15.2 has broken my iPhone 13Pro - I can no longer make any calls from my contacts that are prefixed with an international dialing code (in my case +44). Have had two apple genius appointments resulting in phone having to be wiped and set up as a new phone (no iCloud backup) - Same issue, can’t make calls. Apples response and Apple Covent Garden managers response ‘sorry about this, wait for an update and in the meantime edit some 300+ contacts by removing all the international codes’.

Thanks Apple

There really is a simple answer to this madness. As I’ve stated before several times, Apple gadget life is soooo much better if you stay 1 year behind the curve.

Want a “new” phone? Buy it in August BEFORE the new iPhone becomes available. Then install the last version of that year’s iOS which will be stable, then DONT INSTALL the next version of iOS until the following August- just before the new one drops.

Benefits: Finished version of iOS the day you get your new phone and not having to desperately download update after update throughout the year hoping they’ll fix all the aggravating bugs.

Launch day iPhones are for the birds because they’re shipped with an unfinished bug ridden OS. So is launch day iOS of course.

Does anyone think that when they’re looking back at their life when they’re creeky and old that it will have made any difference AT ALL in your life to always have been a year behind the Apple curve?

I guess I'm a bird! tweet tweet 🐣🐤

This report literally has nothing new to report.

Seriously though, I'd rather have bug fixes and refinements than new features at the moment.
