Hey guys I have searched all over the internet and ever since I got the latest IOS, I have this bug where the volume lowers by itself, and raised back to where it was before every few mins or so. It also happens on my wife’s iPhone. It happens in games, videos, on the speakers and also when Bluetooth headphones are connected. Does anyone else get this? I hope apple fixes it.

This can likely be fixed with a couple of reboots or some attention to volume control settings.
But thanks for sharing your hopes and dreams. I'm pullin' for ya mate, we're all in this together.

I agree with this (although I can't believe you are seeing it on two phones and no one else has mentioned it)

In quick succession: press up volume, then press down volume, then hold the power button until the Apple logo appears, release and let it restart

Just curious, why is this always offered as a potential solution to solve problems? My understanding is that this is intended to be used when the phone is not responsive and you can't shutdown/restart normally. The button sequence basically just tells the firmware to cut power to the phone temporarily. It's really no different than unplugging your computer without shutting it down safely. Most people would agree that is a big no-no, so why do it to a phone unless you really have to? Does it do other magic things I'm not aware of?

After updates or issues with the phone, it basically tells the phone to start from scratch and also forces server sides updates like Maps uses when a new area is introduced (yes...server side updates will come through at SOME point obviously). All diagnostic functions associated with the way apps interact with iOS start new and can optimize the way the phone works.

All I know is, I do it after every iOS/beta update or if my phone is acting slow or unresponsive in any way and it tends to fix the issues since they are usually associated with diagnostic load or memory.

Yeah I think it’s equal to a battery pull of the phones back in the day

Could this be a mechanical problem of some sort? Do you have a case on your iPhone and does it push on the volume buttons? Or do you have an Apple Watch and are you inadvertently touching/rotating the Digital Crown with your arm?

Doubt/hope it’s not it’s hardware had this phone for a year and it just started this now. iPhone 12 Pro Max. Wife’s iPhone 8 does it too. Phones not in a case, just bare. Yeah it’s still happening but since the hard reset not as often. And the sound comes back after 10 sec vs 30 now.

Nope no Apple Watch. It’s weird because when my headphones are connected it happens in the headphones too

OK but if both phones have started doing that, what do they have in common? Did you both pair the same bluetooth speaker or something? Maybe the speaker has an issue?

Honestly the whole thought was it was a bug with iOS, since it only started happening with 15. It hasn’t happened in a bit tho

I get that, but I never experienced it on any iOS 15 device I own, and both you and your wife are experiencing it. So there must be something in common that you share which is causing it.

Try:

1. Settings/Accessibility/Faceid and Attention - there is a toggle "Attention Aware Features" - turn off.

If it doesn't work (I solved the problem with this method):

2. Settings/Sound & Hapticks - Change with Buttons - toggle off.
