Unfortunate Face ID with mask comes in so late, but it's not like the pandemic is actually over so it's still welcome. However, do we have an actual explanation as to why it doesn't work on the iPhone 11/11 Pro?
Its kind of over... At least as it relates to mask use...

Should be more of a "healthcare unlock tool" now.

I set up Face ID with a mask yesterday but this morning Face ID did not work at all. I did a new reset for Face ID without a mask. Has anyone had this problem?
Do you wear glasses? If so, you need to enable that and go through a second scan with your glasses on.

A 100th reason to allow multiple users on iPad.

Can’t use universal control.

Goddamn Apple.

All these great new features some of which are total unnecessaries and yet they couldn’t be bothered to restore the ability to disable split view in accessibility. I can’t possibly describe how exasperating split view is to seniors or to those that can’t control furtive movements.

Once again a user not satisfied no matter what, and thinking that he’s so important that whatever HE wants, is what EVERYONE should want. Lmao
Actually, I think that they are well worth exploring. I'd use most of them. Them that don't like them don't have to use them. Simple.

We are pretty much at the end of iOS 15 we are in countdown to WWDC at this point and we are just now getting features promised and still no State IDs SMH. The only thing we should be seeing at this point are bug and stability fixes.

Universal Control is fast and useful, but still a bit buggy with my mouse configuration... I have a Logi setup with MX Keys Mini and the MX Ergo and these move back and forth pretty seemlessly, however i've found that many times my mouse jumps back to the parent machine also Scroll Wheel doesn't seem to work on the remote Mac for some reason. but if I Scroll swipe on the track pad this works from either direction on each Mac...

setup: Main MacBookPro 2016, Remote MacBook Pro 2021 M1pro. Otherwise copy paste, and mouse and keyboard movement between machines is spot on

i also use the Logi Flow software which works reliably but I don't care for the stutter when trying to move the mouse between computers.
Bug fix for anyone out there using the MX mice, if you have Logi Options installed and you find your mouse won't scroll on the remote computer, simply remove Logi Options from the mac with the primary keyboard and your scroll functionality comes back.I'm sure Logi will fix it: https://support.logi.com/hc/en-us/c...ontrol?page=1#community_comment_4787748138007

I will try and dig into it. A quick general search did not gave me results about possible enhancement in the FaceID hardware in 12/13
Yeah, this is infuriating. My Watch is one generation too old to use to unlock my phone with a mask on (I don't understand why), and now my phone is one generation off of being able to unlock with my mask on.

Does iOS feel snappier for anyone else using a ProMotion display after the update? Maybe it's a placebo effect
I can see the difference with 15.4. Before there was this kind micro jitter when the screen would scroll. Now it scrolls very smoothly no matter if I scroll quickly or slow. Very smooth and very consistent.

Battery life seems really good with 15.4.

We here in Taiwan is going to stick with mask for long long time based on how our neighbor countries are suffering.

Hong Kong reported more than hundreds of death cases daily, and is estimated up to 10 thousands of death in this wave expected to end about at May.
South Korea reported more than 400 thousands of infected and several hundreds of death daily.

Once again Apple gives us another mostly useless update and acts like it's a big deal.
It's in fact a pretty big update for a minor one.

But I'm missing something here. How does Apple act like it's a big deal ? They didn't do a keynote about it, they just coded an update, documented it and released it. Usual process for any company.

Once again Apple gives us another mostly useless update and acts like it's a big deal.

Personally I would like to see all the following asap from Apple.

1. redesign the notification center. It's ridiculous. At the very least add "Clear All" button immediately, even if there's only one notification.

2. after Face-ID recognizes you, go directly into the phone home screen. You shouldn't have to swipe up after the phone recognizes you. Or at least make it possible to turn this off and on.

3. make it possible to dismiss Calendar and any notification banner from any app if you're in another app. You shouldn't have to go back to the lock screen or be forced to tap it to get into the app sending it in order to dismiss it.

4. when you're running a count down timer in the clock app you can see on the Locked screen how much time is left, by all means make it possible to go directly to the the timer when you tap the time left on the Locked screen.

5. give us an LED visual for notifications in addition to sound and vibration. Allow us to change the colors of the LED light based on what the notification app is.
The fine folks who like things the way they are can just leave things as is.

6. give us an always-on screen for the clock. On the always-on screen we should also be able to choose if we want to see if we have any notifications (the amount and the app) or if we to just want to see the clock.
Once again, the people who don't like it should be able to turn it off. No more Apple forcing us to do stuff.

7. add haptic feedback to the keyboard and make it possible to customize different intensities to your heart's content.
It's beyond crazy that you have no feedback whatsoever if you're typing and the phone is on mute. Those who are concerned with battery or simply don't like this should be able to turn it off.

8. make it possible to adjust volume for independent apps and settings and not this general thing they're doing. Separate volume control for keyboard volume, music volume, ring volume, system volume.
I, for example, would like the keyboard clicks to be much louder than they are but without it affecting the volume on the entire phone or the ring and notifications volume. It's silly of Apple to force it to be like this.

9. add suggestions from the address book as you start a phone number.
Common now Apple, this has been available for the last 15 years on Android.

10. make it possible to customize the texting app in every conceivable way. Font size, bubble size shape color etc.

11. make it possible to schedule a text message to be sent at a certain time/date. This is a basic feature. Compose your message now and schedule it to be sent when the time is right. I used to use this feature all the time when I had to text people who are in different time zones when they have to get the text at a certain time in their time zone but it's way too late for me to stay up to send the text.

12. use an OS-wide clipboard and make cut and/or copy not expire until you, the user, cleans it.
You should be able to copy text now and paste it tomorrow if you want to.
And 12b make it possible to copy multiple copy entries ready to paste any one of them by long pressing, at least the last 10 cut/copies should be possible.

13. in Mail give us the option to NOT go to the next email when you are deleting an email but to go back to the inbox. Those who want to keep things the way they are should be able to turn this feature off.

14. make it possible to move the icons on the desktop anywhere you want to.
Just want to say that decimal updates are rarely big. Most of the “bigger” features you find added are ones meant to ship with the .0 but they couldn’t quite get working.

Expecting a UI redesign on anything but a .0 is, well, unrealistic.

I would love the scheduled texts I’ll admit.

And there are haptics. Customizable? No, but don’t act like they aren’t there because it’s not 100% what you don’t want.

And while I agree multiple clip board slots would be nice I don’t see them making them eternal until overwritten with their security consciousness.

Well it works great and I will still be using a mask for a while at work due to our guidelines. 12 hrs per day, 5 days per week for at least the next month and maybe until the end of 2022.
Also I think in the USA we will see more people being aware of their illnesses and wear masks when feeling unwell. Like a number of other countries do. So it will have ongoing usefulness.

Right?! I haven’t even had so much as the sniffles since this thing began. My industry has a culture of people “powering through” when they have a cold which just makes it spread to the whole crew. With the pandemic people are finally realizing that maybe they should just take a day off when they are sick. What a shocking thing to do! Hell my industry only got actual paid sick days a year or two before the pandemic. Which is probably why people would just “power through” in the first place.

You forgot to mention the most useful iPad-only addition: Finally you can choose if you want your volume keys in landscape mode to be set up as intuitive (new) or counterintuitive (old): Go to Settings > Sounds - and at the bottom, you will find a switch for “Fixed Position Volumen Controls”. Switch it off - and you are allowed to push the right volume button (in landscape mode) to move a volume slider to the right…
What took them so long to implement this totally obvious feature?
