the back and forward buttons on the url bar need extra padding, they’re impossible to tap

In Safari settings, what exactly does “Auto minimize tab-bar” do?
Whats the tab bar? Url bar? If so that setting is broke in beta 1?

I wish they'd allow the same customizations (to some degree) in Safari for iOS/iPadOS as they do for Safari in macOS. And then add an option to have URL Bar at the top or bottom. Maybe everyone's problems would be mitigated.

Safari could be the best browser in the world but it's useless to me until it has a proper method for syncing bookmarks to a windows machine, either via a Windows version of Safari (yes, there used to be one!) or some other decent method - not that icloud sync rubbish that never works.

Until then, Brave is the best browser.

The bottom URL bar gets in the way of EVERYTHING

Its such a bad ui

they have to do something to fix this
Clarify "everything"??

It's only there when you would actually type something in there and then goes away as you scroll. And because it is on the bottom instead of the top, it DOESN'T block where you normally start reading a web page.

Microsoft Edge is gonna look could be my default browser is iPadOS15
You should check out the edge privacy report, it’s probably not worth the trade off verses coping with a new search bar placement or dealing with extra tab management features.

OK, Tab Groups are quite smart. But otherwise the whole implementation is absolutely terrible.

And where is the Bookmarks icon? I use this all the time, for example...

Even Sharing takes one more tap now, as does everything else.
To me this is a step back.

BTW normally I'd prefer having everything as close to my thumb as possible but all of these floating things? I hate them already.

Really liking this new design. Takes a while to adjust the muscle memory but its great for one handed use and all the options are under a single menu.

I haven’t tested it but I LOVE the new safari redesign bot on iOS and OS X! It will make webpages feel more like apps. I bet in a few years, our current browsers will look dated af.

I’ve been waiting FOR YEARS for a major browser redesign (especially from chrome) and Apple just delivered it! The fact that people are complaining it’s a good sign to me, because that means changes were radical!

...except bookmarks which are in the upper left and only show up when you open a new page. Would be nice if that was a one stop press either under the same three dot menu or a true one press on the left side of the bar maybe?

Hopefully everyone that's had issues with the new Safari has filed Feedback with Apple, too. Your best chance of anyone seeing the feedback would be the week following WWDC. Report it in 5 weeks and they're going to have their plans set. There's still time for enough negative public sentiment to actually make a change to how it looks. Just look at how much the Mail App changed during the initial iOS 14 betas..

I think we're at the period of time when Apple should make a toggle for every new feature to be able to turn them off. Apple systems are seriously bloated.
Adding tons of variations of the same thing just so people can switch between them is the definition of bloat.

Also where is the forward arrow. The back arrow alone is present.
I'm never clear on what "forward" means. to where? I've only ever used it for the rare case where I went to a page, then back, then forward again. Otherwise it seems like a complete mystery.

moving an important UI element from the top of the screen to the bottom, very confusing for everyone's muscle memory. thanks apple!
Most controls should move to the bottom where it is easier and faster to access them. The top of the screen is a reach for your thumbs.

Muscle memory 😂 gets bandied around here so often. Are none of you capable of learning something new?!

The screen is tiny - you don’t even need to move your eyes to see the change.

My 2 cents, I think the changes are horrible on both iOS and macOS.

In fact, I think they really lost their way this year, normally these iOS/macOS and others have major new features, this year it's less than ...Meh.

Changing something that's baked into your muscle-memory will help you stay mentally fit.
Except when those changes are horrible, these changes/OS version Updates remind me of..cough cough...*Windows.

*I got a MS Surface last year for my job, I returned it, such horrible Hardware and OS....yes, it still sucks.
