This all seems like a lot of effort in order to do what Do Not Disturb and Aeroplane Modes are supposed to do.
Focus adds nuance of being able to still be connected to work with certain apps and to be in reach of certain people, rather than a binary ON/OFF approach that DND and AirPlane mode provide.

Maybe that isn't useful for you, but that doesn't make it a poor feature. Based on early indications, many will get a lot of value from it.
 
I think there will be an API, hope messaging apps, like WA and others, implement it right away.
They'd be insane not to implement it immediately. Every app wants to be as front and center to the user as possible.
 
Ive set a focus, with no one in the allowed people, and the "Also allow Calls from" is set to no one.... but I still get calls come through?
