I want an ability to “pin” apps from app library directly to Home Screen. Drag and drop is cumbersome to say the least. Also there seems to be no way to select multiple apps from App Library and drag them altogether to the Home Screen. Yes, icon management on Mac (and windows).
You mean like the “add to homescreen” option? Because it’s there….

If I had just one observation about App Library, it's that you can only access it after swiping past your last home page, but the people who presumably would benefit from it the most are also the ones with multiple pages of apps that they downloaded but never got round to organising. So to get to it, they would have to swipe past the app they wanted to to access in the first place.

I wonder if it might make more sense to move App Library to the left of the home screen, replacing the existing widgets page. So it's always accessible one swipe away after you unlock your phone, which I imagine would be more convenient to reach.

You have a point, but there‘s even a faster way: pull down from the Home Screen to open spotlight and enter the first characters of the app name. It always beats that redundant App Library.

As I don't use the App Library, I wouldn't want that.

A solution that would keep almost everyone happy would be for Apple to treat that page the same as a home screen. So those who love it can move it to the first screen, and those who hate it can remove it from display completely.

I can't recall a more despised feature in any previous version of iOS than the dreadful App Library

The App Library is the Touch Bar of iOS.

And there's no way to tell if an app is in hidden in the App Library but not on a Home Screen.

The App Library is necessary in order to hide apps from the home screen. If they’re not available on the home screen then they have to be accessed somewhere. If all the apps remain on the home screen then it basically becomes the App Library. (with more freedom in sorting)

If the home screen is your App Library then I think it makes less sense to allow placing apps any where on the 4x6 grid.

The best compromise would be to allow users to disable the App Library and inform them that this will also disable hiding apps or home screens.

App Library haters, if I had it my way I would have the option to make it my first Home Screen. I have a bunch of thoughtfully arranged app screens that I rarely if ever use because the App Library is just to convenient to pop into and get to the app I need. If only it weren’t hiding out at the far end of my phone.

Its a smart phone, not Mac OS-feature style which is what Apple is turning it into. The ability to remove wigets on iOS is good, but there should be a limit to how useful things will be for all. shouldn't there?

I don't get the rearranging pages though..... that's just bought on by having more than 10+

You can't even have 15 desktops on a Mac. I figure the push to iOS by adding more tidbits... At lest Apple knows what their doing.

one word: Spotlight

I actually could imagine the alphabetical list view (that you get by swiping down) in the app library being useful. Very similar to Microsoft Windows Phone, and one of the best things that iOS didn't have back in the day.

Is there any way to make that view the default?

What I eventually plan to do when I upgrade my phone later this year will be to turn on App Library before I do a fresh install. I currently have 145 apps on my phone, and I expect to download most of them. I feel this is an acceptable middle ground between having a ton of apps on my device, and not having them clutter up my homescreen or needing to manually organise them into folders.

I am liking my current homescreen consisting of 2 siri shortcut widgets and 1 stack of medium widgets, and plan to stick with it. I guess this is one of those features that are more useful to non-power users and ironically, annoying to those who have invested the time into organising and setting up their devices.

Is there a way to disable the home screen? Unlike seemingly everyone above, I don't like wasting time on meaningless things like "organizing apps." The grouping algorithms are good enough, so I want to go all in on the app library. The only issue is the apparent inability to disable the last remaining home screen, so I'm greeted with a pesky empty page after unlocking the phone.
