I've been on the iOS 15 developer beta since DEV Beta 1. It ran pretty smooth on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and I barely had any problems in the last months. However, after installing the RC I'm experiencing crucial errors: extreme slowdown to the point that the touchscreen becomes unresponsive. I've reported the issue to Apple, but unfortunately there's no real way to reproduce the error...my watch is on WatchOS 8 beta so downgrading is not an option...

Has anyone had similar issues with iOS 15 RC?

No issues with my 12 Pro Max on iOS 15. I use it all day every day as it’s my primary device. No issues with speed or battery, it’s as slack as it’s always been.

iPhone XR 64 GB, just installed the RC. Smooth as can be.

Edit: 7:13 pm - Settings | selecting Music locks up Settings app. Apple Music (subscription) turned off before update.

The RC sticky is filled with complaints so you aren’t alone.

I've had one issue. My iPhone 11 pro gets hot while using safari. To try to fix it, I restored my phone and the problem persists.

Any ideas?

I’ve installed on all my devices now and dont seem to have any issues - performance wise. few apps crash here and there , but that’s app issue not iPad OS

It’s not only RC, I’m having App Store and safari slow downs 🤦‍♂️

Apple has really screwed up something with these last 2 betas 🤦‍♂️

I used to install iOS GM/RC versions when they are available but no more this year. What new features are actually left in the initial release version of iOS 15? It wasn’t a lot in the keynote already.

Thanks for your input guys! Seems they still have work to do before going live on September 20th…

The conclusion that’s been reached over at the dedicated 15.0 RC thread is that the issues may relate to having installed this firmware package over the air rather than by the IPSW file. It’s possible that there was some corruption or other flaw in the OTA file that caused this.

Report back here if your install was OTA or not and if you are having these issues. @Ansath

Sorry if seems an odd question but do I get the same security updates that are released to the public on beta updates

Depends on the severity and when they caught the security issue. For example, by examining build dates, it’s thought that the 15.0 RC may not have the Pegasus patch that is in 14.8. But the public release of 15.0 (or 15.0.1) will certainly have that patch on Monday.

I didn’t know about this, updated OTA as well. I’ll wait for Monday and then reset everything with the IPSW file. Let’s hope this helps

I’ve had Safari, Google Maps and Apollo freeze up on me a few times since this update. I can’t remember that happening as much on the previous betas, so I’m hoping it’s just one-off crashes.

It still baffles me how things can get this worse if we get closer to the release..

I IPSW’d, the others in the RC thread that had no issues as well also seems like people that did similar.

No issues here on my iPhone XS and 2021 11” iPad Pro. Both were upgraded from iOS 14.8 via IPSW files.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought most people downloaded OTA.
