Ah, I stand corrected. So could this be the long-awaited AirPods Pro 2 with some additional H2 chip functionality and now the USB Type C case? Changes that would make them more Android-friendly?
Long awaited? AirPods Pro 2 came out not even a year ago.

Has it been long enough since pro’s release so they can release new case for upsell. That should have already had usbc.

More like dark blue you mean. There hasn't been a true black Apple product since the iPhone 7. Even the black iPhone 12 still has a tint of blue in it.
True, and only “black” part of the iPhone 14 Pro in Black is the stainless band

I'm referring NOT to the model that came out last September. I'm referring to the slight updates with a upcoming new model with the new USB Type C charging case and additional H2 functionality to better integrated with Android cellphones.

I'm not sure I would call a pair of airpods with a selling point of "better for android", long-awaited.

AirPods Pro have been primarily sold to iPhone users because of its ease of connectivity; I don't think there is much sales of the AirPods Pro line to Android users. The upgrade to the internal electronics I presume on the rumored new model could be to make connecting to Android phones much easier, even if you have to install an app to get full functionality (like you do with the Beats app for the Studio Buds and Fit Pro).

USB-C isn't worse than Lightning, and a single connector that can charge all Apple devices (minus Apple Watch) is definitely compelling, but the EU law will probably discourage a better connector replacing USB-C in the future.
USB-A came out in 1996 (27 years ago) and is still in use in many devices. I think it's going to be alright.

...which they’ll also sell as a standalone option.
Nope. Android bribed some people, and there will be a "Cash for Clunker AirPod Cases" program, where the government will incentivize people to surrender their rare and valuable Lightning connector cases, and exchange them for cases with the commonplace USB-C connector.
