Hi everyone!

tried to setup web apps, instagram, whatsapp, Twitter, even telegran. All done, with the icon on the menu, notifications enable, but i never get a notification.

I use a web test app to see if notifications work at all and was able to get a notification. so the functionality is some form enabled.

also tried with edge, along side safari, but notifications are not working.

any thoughts ?

Apart from notifications I would like your opinion about battery draining compared to official apps.

Also, when you press “add to home screen” do you get any message of “web app installing” or just adds the icon like prior to iOS 16.4?

Just adds the icon. If a web app it opens with a full screen safari view. If is not a web app then it behaves like a shortcut for a safari tab.

Battery wise, in theory is worse than native. The use case for web apps ( IMHO) is for apps that you rarely use and/or you want safari in between as a privacy/ security barrier between the app and your phone data.

The user experience is also worse, as a web page in general the transactions aren’t as smooth or pre filled.

But nothing of this matter if I cannot get notifications to work.
