I’m really happy with the public beta 4 so far. During the first days the Phone ran a little bit warmer during normal usage but now after a couple of days it’s really fine. There was most likely a new indexing going on or other background processing.
Really happy with the beta of iOS 16. New lockscreen is cool and I really enjoy the improvements for portrait photos.

Oddly this morning I had a couple of duplicates in Contacts. had iOS 16 fix that - all seemed well.
I took this opportunity to remove some old contacts that are no longer used. That is when I saw that some contacts have one thumbnail for display and another when you open the contact. including mine. Mine you can see in the Contacts itself

The thumbnail in the list is an old one and I cannot see where it can be accessed or edited. Changing the one in the Contact itself does not seem affect the other. Can definitely see it in Messages.

Annoying little bugs.
I have an iCloud contacts folder and an on device folder, thanks to Intune. The on device ones can have a different photo than my default iCloud sync ones. Could it be something like this? You might want to look at the lists.

Is there a way to change this chunky clock display font in iPadOS PB4, as this can be done in iOS 16? Have tried pressing on the Home Screen and looked through the Settings, but no luck? It is massive as it comes out of the box on a 10.9” screen!

I also can’t stand the super chunky.

I used to have a myriad of issues in iOS 15 where often the lights just stay unresponsive when you pull down for CC and can’t toggle them on or off but work just fine once you open the Home app or with a hard reboot.
I’m actually quite surprised it only happened once since iOS 16 betas for me and even then it resolved itself after a while. But the autocorrect sucks just as much in iOS 16.

Having said that, are you using a VPN or a 3rd party DNS by any chance? This might happen when the server’s unreachable.
Have you tried toggling Wi-Fi ON/OFF to see if it resolves the issue?
I attributed this to a broken Bonjour. Usually rebooting my wifi mesh node fixes it.

Thanks, looking for a yes/no kind of answer, can’t spent 10-15min.

It will take longer than that to back up, download and install. And if you can’t spend a few minutes seeing how something could potentially ruin your phone, sorry for saying this but maybe it will show you the level of severity… I think you're being stupid, and don’t put it on your main device.

Just go through the first 5 pages, and last 5, at least 👍🏼

This beta felt sold in the beginning but I’m getting more graphical glitches as time goes on. And also just had the phone lock up. I had to do a hard restart to fix it. My Lock Screen to wake is becoming less stable as well.

Betas feeling good in the beginning and deteriorating over time seems to be pretty common these days.

Also HomeKit devices with “no response” in control center also keeps occurring. Works fine in the home app. I saw others with this issue as well but thought I’d chime in.

Are you using any VPN or 3rd party DNS?
I’d only encountered that issue probably once or twice in iOS 16 compared to a few times a week in iOS 15. I’d attributed this surprising reliability to their new “architecture” so kinda surprising to hear people still experiencing the same issue.

I use NextDNS via their profile setup FYI.

I thought my phone bricked over night. Completely unresponsive. Took a hard reset to get it restarted.

Scary but that’s the chance we take.
I've had this happen at least twice on this latest beta. I know at least another time where the screen was just unresponsive, and I just put my iPhone back down and came back to it late and it was fine. At least the latest Watch beta fixed the problem with 3rd Party Apps not working after a reboot. Otherwise my S7 Apple Watch has been fine. My iPhone 12 Pro, though, not so much.

HomeKit has been very reliable for me with iOS15 so this issue is new. No changes on my side.

I use a custom DNS, 1.1.1.1 on my router.
And I have a localized VPN on my device however it’s not a VPN. It’s 1blocker, blocking apps from using trackers.

Since the issue is only within control panel I believe it’s a beta issue.

Weird that it improved for me while deteriorated for some when Apple boasted the reliability for their new architecture.
Perhaps you could try resetting just the Settings once you update to the final release and see if it helps.

Here’s a new one for me: on an iPad Mini and iPad Air (both newest models), springboard crashes whenever landscape/portrait rotation is happening immediately after another task, such as waking, or closing an app.

Feedback filed.

Is anyone having issues putting videos into landscape view after this beta? Ever since beta 5, when I turn my phone into landscape for YouTube or videos in safari, it won’t go into that view. I don’t have the landscape lock on either

I hope this isn‘t the last beta / RC. That annoying mail Focus filter bug still exists:

When you have a mail Focus filter active to e.g. hide everything but your work inbox, you still get mail notifications for private inboxes. If you tap such a notification, it opens the Mail app and freezes for 5-10 seconds and then does nothing until you tap „Turn Off“ in the Focus filter bar, that‘s when everything gets unhidden and the mail you tapped the notification of opens in the detail view.
