Why do I need a camera widget when swiping left brings up the camera? Why can’t I get rid of the flashlight widget, which I accidentally activate in all situations other than when I need it? Without force touch these things are a nuisance.
Always-on compatibility probably requires some adjustments. It sounds like we’re going to have to wait for devs to update their widgets to get them to work on the Lock Screen. I wish this would’ve been just automatic.
I actually love it when apples focuses on refining and better integrating previously released features rather than coming out with flashy new ones. The interactive dictation is going to improve my iphone experience beyond belief. so is the scrolling notifications and real time content at the bottom of the lock screen. these have the ability to solve major pain points in daily use. These things don't make for a sexy press release, but they reduce 1st world human suffering in ways you probably can't even see yet. ;o) Tracking your Uber with live content on your lock screen is just scratching the surface of the usefulness of this technology.Am I the only one who thought this would be a bigger release?
Um well the lock screen update is nice, long overdue, I think my favorite part is that you can have the live weather on the entire screen. That was one of my favorite jailbreak tweaks like 7 years ago. Complications, about time as well, but, but, literally nothing for the Home Screen? Same Non-interactive widgets? Same grid, same dock, same status bar, no customizability at all unless you want to use shortcuts which has its drawbacks and is cumbersome. iOS 16 Home Screen looks exactly the same as the iOS 7 Home Screen, not counting the dock and wallpaper it’s the same as iPhone OS 1. Yikes! Ancient and boring af.
Hold on, what? They removed that with this update?Another disappointment: Can't set different pictures for lock and home screen.
What year are we heading to, 1997?
AFAIK, yes.Do notifications still come from the bottom even without widgets?
Third party widgets like PowerToYou (see a list here) can use WidgetKit to add a widget on the Lock Screen which do show the battery percentage of your iPhone, iPad or any other (third party) bluetooth devices for that matter.Widgets are not bad... a good start anyway.
The battery widget still needs help as it won't show the phone's battery, only my watch.
Can you? How?NO, you can still use two different backgrounds for lockscreen/homescreen.
The Apple provided backgrounds seems to be gone - closest is now the so-called Collections. I cannot set these as HS unless I set them as LS. Then I cannot change the LS to a picture.in Settings->Wallpaper you can add different backgrounds for LS/HS.
