I'd probably be more inclined to use it to cut other people out of pics (that the feature Google is showing in the new TV ads) than isolate and extract a pic and pasted it to another or message.

I'm surprised they allow the XR to have the feature. I was expecting this to be exclusive to devices with the lidar scanner.

If you haven't wasted days of your life trying to cut out people or objects in PhotoShop, then you never will truly understand the hype.
I understand this type of functionality in editor because you can fix cutting errors, can you do that here though?

I wish it was this plus the feature to remove unwanted things from the background of photos. I would use the latter way more

Out of curiosity, is macOS Ventura having this too?
I get for example that PixelmatorPro has an easy to use “Remove Background” share/action routine but lately I can’t state enough how useful it is when features are built-in and always ready to use anywhere.

This is awesome!

Now what app out there will let me take the subject I extracted and paste it into a new background?

Obviously, I'm asking for one that isn't subscription-based.

A reasonable one-time fee is okay, or even one that shows short advertisements.

I'm bumping this because I stumbled upon this thread looking for the same information. How can I take a lifted subject and put into a new photo, so that the subject is on a plain white background?

So far I've tried it out with Canva , good but not great .
I'm looking for something else too . Any help will be appreciated 😉

The ability to paste a lifted subject into another photo seems like a no-brainer. Other than Canva, is there currently a way to paste a subject? I've tried using a couple photo editing apps but it didn't work.

Only that one works for me also .

I found a way, on an iPhone, to 'paste' a clipped subject into an existing photo! Pixelmator. Just like with Photoshop or Pixelmator Pro on macOS, the user opens the bottom layer photo then adds another image as a layer, i.e. the previously clipped and saved subject. What's really cool is that, just like with full-fledged image editors, 'effects', i.e. focus blur, can be applied per layer.
