To be fair I’ve not had any issues.
Calls, messages and apps all seem to be working ok on my iPhone 13 Pro and 12 Mini.
I’m sure there are some bugs, but fortunately I’ve not experienced any.

I never had any issues either but a friend did have messages failing to send yesterday(Seemed to be service, not the phone itself). Have you checked to ensure that you do not have an focus modes turned on? That could be why calls were being sent to VM, or if you have DnD enabled.

As far as the mac connecting, if you are sure that you want to try to restore to iOS 15.7, you can always try putting your phone into recovery mode. Can't really advise why it never got past the trust issue but I think recovery mode is a mitigation for that.

I now have a 14PM but had the 13PM and 16 really had no issues, battery life was remarkable, calls, texts, etc. were normal. 16 was/is probably the smoothest release I’ve seen in quite a while. 15 gave me no major issues but had a few little ones, much happier with 16, except having to always do another swipe up to find notifications that are not immediately visible on the Lock Screen. Both my wife and I find that aggravating. But that’s it.

iPhone 14 PM, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 12PM, iPhone XR, no issues here iOS16.1 beta3, updated all of them thru IPSW file
restore (Mac).

I have yet to see any issues with iOS 16, myself. It worked fine on my iPhone 12 Pro and is also working fine on my 14 pro max. I supposed not everyone is so lucky to get away without issues, though.

12P. Battery drain, phone overheating, calls straight to VM, unable to send, and signal strength drop. It’s been horrible. My wife and daughter are holding off on updating.

It’s the difference between like putting a computer into low power mode and turning it off completely and turning it back on. It clears the RAM and essentially gives a fresh start. It helps alleviate a lot of little bugs and annoyances.

Still working it, I really am kicking myself I didn't do a backup before upgrading. One of the big issues is connecting to a computer and after a couple minutes of spinning, device not found. lockscreen going into edit mode every time I pick it up I can live with but it would be nice to lock that out if possible. No on the 'focus mode' question. The hard shutdown helps but I hate doing that every day or when I have to connect to a computer. Apple only saves 2 backups so the one from January has been bumped off the stack.

Wow - sounds like you are doing it wrong. Why don't you allow it to backup to iCloud nightly? You shouldn't have to do a hard shutdown as I described earlier. You don't have an iOS 16 issue, you have something else going on. I'd sync your info with local apps like contacts, calendar, notes, etc. Then restore to factory and start over.

Apple says I can restore to the mac in finder and I do follow their procedure so I'm not sure it's actually wrong. For iCloud, I'd have to buy storage and I have this M1 MacBook just sitting here. Normally I do a backup first, before an iOS bump, but not this time. That's on me, no excuse.

I was able to get a signed copy of 15.7 and reinstalled and configured everything. Everything works again so far.

Yes - you can back up to your Mac. Before iCloud, I did that too. The rule of thumb for backing up systems is only do it as frequently as you feel comfortable losing data. For me - I suppose I could go a day, but longer than that and I may miss something important. It's worth peace of mind to get more iCloud storage and have it backup daily.

In your post, you stated "so the one from January has been bumped off the stack." January is 9/10 months ago (depending on when you did it in January). That's almost a year's worth of data.

If you use Time Machine, you will have more than 2 backups if you back up your phone more often. Can always restore the file(s) from the backup you select. Something to think about. I use Time Machine - and I use BackBlaze for my Mac.

Since updating my 13 pro to iOS 16, I frequently have calls go to voicemail without ever ringing. And I have to restart the phone nearly daily due to cellular data simply stopping working. A fresh boot fixes it only temporarily.

Glad for those who have no issues. But there are definitely problems affecting some of us.

I noticed that when I pull my iPhone 14 Pro out of my pocket it wakes up with a glitchy animation. Pretty minor but I hope it gets fixed in the next update.

Lot of bugs here too on 13 Pro Max.

Weird safari bugs, like pictures on pages that sometimes get highlighted with a transparant color.

Calling and landing in voicemail directly.

Music playing on iphone that get routed to a, known, bluetooth speaker without connecting to it.

Battery drain.

…to name a few.
