iPhone XS and newer models are equipped with both a physical nano-SIM card slot and a digital eSIM, allowing for dual-SIM functionality. This means you can have two lines of service on one iPhone, which is useful for having personal and business lines on a single iPhone
Work and personal on the same phone? Oh hail no!😣 The last thing I want is the company/HR snooping about my phone.😒 If they want me to use a phone for work, the company needs to provide me with a work phone or a stipend to get a second phone for work. It will be used only for work though. Once I'm off the clock, the work phone is off as well.🤨 I don't want my world colliding.😑
The possibility of sending the boss a dick pic, however remote, is something not worth risking.😁
or for purchasing data-only plans via eSIM while traveling abroad.
Yass.🥰 Absolutely get a local SIM when you travel abroad. Carriers will siphon every last penny outta your wallet otherwise.

Starting with the iPhone 13 lineup, dual-SIM mode also works with two eSIMs.

I did not even know this! Does that mean you can have two eSim activated + a physical sim or is it two eSim or 1 eSim and one physical sim?
You can actually have something like 9 esim plans saved, just two active at a time.

You can actually have a lot more than that, it only two active at the same time.

Wished they solve the search issues of older messages. It’ll show the results in a search but when you tap the message it jumps to the most recent text message instead of the search results.
It just struck me what the problem is. Apple are missing a Steve Woz. Massively. Woz would sort out all these obvious, and long missing, features pronto.

It simply bewilders me, do none of the Apple engineers actually use Apple devices and software? Aren't they constantly frustrated by the obvious missing functionality? Don't they go into work and start nerding away at fixing them, if nothing else, so that they can use those fixes themselves?

It would be more useful to be able to sort by work or personal CONTACTS. Most people don't have dual SIMs and use their phone for both work and personal use.
I learned long ago to add extra descriptions in the contact name:

Mike Jones Work
Kate Smith Doc
etc.

Then I can just type "work" into the search, and all my work contacts come up.

Oh, and I also simply put the full name and description into the first name field, and leave the surname blank. Less confusing that way.

Sure. Now can Apple provide support for twin apps, so I can use two WhatsApp accounts on one iPhone, for each SIM? Do that, and might sway me away from Android a bit.

Still can’t select a number and decide with which line to call with…. But after all it has been only 4.5 years since they introduced dual sim support and it’s a small company busy eliminating bugs on their operat… ah no.

you can make groups in your contacts and filter those groups with a focus. e.g. work-focus allows the work-group in contacts to call, but personal not. Favorites are always allowed. And with the personal focus it's the other way around.
With well over a 1000 contacts the first time is a pain in the proverbial place to sort them out, but once that is done it's easy.

I buy my own phone and my employer has the privilege of buying me an esim :)
That way he can see what numbers I called on my phone but not much else.

Bollocks.

https://support.apple.com/en-il/HT209044
You can set a primary line.
You can also assign the outgoing line to specific numbers so they always get called with that line.
You can switch the outgoing line before making the call.
You can do the same for messages.
You can switch the number during a conversation
And many more nitty gritty settings that most people never use.

Bollocks what??

Open an email with a contact number in a signature. Tap and call that number. Now tell me if you can decide with which number you wanna call.

When you read a sentence you gotta read it in full, not just a word and jump to a conclusion. It’s like reading a book by looking at the pictures.

Bollocks, sir!

If you don't want to call it with your primary, just copy the number and dial it from the phone app. It's not that hard to come up with a solution. Or make it a contact first, always good to collect as many numbers as is sensible.

And my books only contain pictures. What is wrong with that?

I did come up with that solution and it wasn’t hard. It also wouldn’t be hard for little Apple to implement a solution, it is a joke that you can’t just long press on the number and decide to call with my personal or with my work line. That’s all.

Cool. Now add support for iMessage for User Enrolled Managed Apple IDs and let us filter similarly. Thanks. 👍

Does anybody know if we can use the "Share Name and Photo" feature in iMessage to work with dual-SIM, 2 numbers? For instance, my primary (personal) I have setup with my name and initials, and for my second line (business) I want it to be my logo. I am thinking no, because only one can be associated with your AppleID.
