I have installed io16 on my iPhone 13 Pro with 90,000 photos. I have been looking forward to the "duplicates" function in Photos - but it is not showing up for me under Utilities. I installed iOS 16 several hours ago. What am I doing wrong?

Well, it is almost a day and still nothing. Also checked with a friend and it isn't showing for them either. Please could somebody confirm that they are seeing this feature??? Thanks

Duplicate button only shows up if you actually have duplicates.

If you dont have any, the duplicate-button will not be shown

Thanks for the replies. I have literally thousands of duplicates which is why I have been so looking forward to this new feature. Is it working for others?

It takes a while to index/process. mine just appeared after 20 hours or so (had 4k dupes 14k photos now)

I’m still waiting as well. I left it on almost a full battery overnight (which I hardly ever do), and no duplicates detected so far.

Wait a week, if it's not there in a week then contact support but I wouldn't worry under a week! Timing depends on your activity and probably a bunch of other stuff we don't know.

I have 35,000+ photos. In under 12 hours (I am not sure when it happened), the iPhone discovered 1600+ duplicates. I sorted through them carefully and experimented with the "merge" action. It's very reliable and indeed leaves one good copy for each set. I am convinced by it so in the future I can do a mass merge with duplicates.

Just upgraded to IOS 16 at today at 21:00. I have 11,850 photos. No duplicate folder so I'll wait a few days as suggested to see what happens.

Can someone please answer this question: I noticed similar photos disappearing from my phone, some of them years old. HOW DO YOU TURN IT OFF? I understand why some people want to clean up space, but (once again, Apple) has decided to make a choice for me I'd rather make myself. I'm losing similar (not duplicate) photos of late relatives and even a celebrity or two I met and had 3 photos with them, now just one. I get why a lot of people here like it, but why do tech companies always presume what we want? /rant - Thanks in advance

Not sure what’s happening here. It doesn’t happen automatically. You have to manually merge the duplicates.
