I am almost sure Apple is releasing the RC today or tomorrow. I don’t think it will happen but Apple might surprise us with 16.2.1 today.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted here. But all this 16.2.1 stuff compelled me to do so.

If Apple is on the cusp of releasing 16.3 (and all signs and past practice indicate that they are likely to issue a Release Candidate today or tomorrow), why would they release a 16.2.1? At this stage, they would only do so if there were an urgent need. Clearly, there is not.

it’s also feasible that we could get a 16.2.5 that aligns to the new hardware release.

16.3 beta 2 is a hot mess based on reports from the corresponding thread in this forum. Are we anticipating that RC will be much better?

Ahhh that's rubbish. "Some" users, a very small amount, are having issues. A host of reasons why, I won't bore you with. And also, most users wont even experience these on the final release, after updating both iOS and apps.

I think the new MBPs will ship with a special build of macOS 13.1 and by the time the February 3rd release date for Japan rolls round macOS 13.2 will be out.

So we could possibly get another beta this week, RC next week and public release w/c January 30th.

Or I’m completely wrong and Apple surprises us all!

People need to stop spreading this FUD. 16.3 is perfectly fine for most with a few vocal outliers gathered in that thread. I have it on my daily driver 14PM and iPad Air 5 and I can’t think of a single thing wrong with either.

By no means am I discounting those with issues but quit scaring people away with this stuff. 16.3 is no worse or better than 16.2.

New M2 MacBook Pros releasing next Tuesday require macOS 13.2 for Wi-Fi 6E support in Japan, so we might see some updates then.

Edit: Japan gets the M2 MacBook Pros on February 3.
Has Japan allowed Wifi 6e ?

Waiting here in India for our govt to release it for Wifi use.

And it is precisely this type of sensationalist fear-mongering you correctly refer to that has led me to reduce my profile here.

All of these releases have some issues. None have issues that significantly impede their use for the vast majority (i.e., 99%+) of customers.

This forum would be infinitely better if people accepted the limitations of the beta software they are testing , reported the issues they have (both here and to Apple) and stopped complaining as much.

Loving the reality checks on this last page; 16.3 beta 2 has been stellar for me on 13 mini—runs without a hitch. Heck, even the first beta was great over the holidays. And people here know I can be as critical of Apple as any "hater." Sometimes the dramatics are a little too much, even for me. ;)

Anyway, rolling for beta 3... 🎲
