I’ll still probably keep a subscription to Carrot. I love the ability to tailor the app to my liking.
Nah.Turn that off then.
Good point. It would be nice if someone would post a deeper look into the weather notifications. I love Carrot’s thorough options for notifications and the ability to set them as critical.
I'll keep carrot just for the snark. And seriously, I get most of my breaking news from Carrot.Great. I will have to consider not renewing my Carrot subscription. Granted, Carrot has way more info. I think this might be enough for me.
I see it's going to get downright chilly next Monday! LOLSo lucky! We have boring weather in Las Vegas. It’s either too hot or too cold. On top of that, it’s dry. So annoying.
You are lucky, you get to see all the seasons. The weather below is in Fahrenheit. 🥵
But then why would anyone want to update? They do it to get people in the door. There is no good reason
They really need to divorce the first party App updates from iOS software updates
Good point.
Like after a certain time? or if weather drops to 65F etc?
I did love those when I was a carrot user.
Move to Houston, TX. We have a saying here: "If you don't like the weather, just wait a minute."Sheeeeeeesh! It's just beautiful. Nicely detailed. The weather app has come a very long way. This weather app makes me want to live somewhere with higher weather activity instead of living in the desert, Las Vegas. I want to see all the weather animations 😍
The iPad weather app is a nice bonus added by Apple. Good stuff!
True. But maybe it could be the API element and that they wouldn’t want to limit it in some way? I may be wrongThere is a degree of flexibility available, for example I have the weather widget on my IPadOS screen, touch that on screen brings the new deep sky based weather app. So you have choice to use what suits you. You can set up weather widgets on iOS and MacOS.
Regarding Deep Sky accuracy attributed to "aggregating weather data from a wide range of sources", if we knew what they utilized then we could discuss the "beyond" their current (US/Canada + UK/Ireland) limits.I hope they are planning on expanding their most advanced forecasts beyond what DarkSky supported (US/Canada + UK/Ireland).
The new app is built around a new iOS library, WeatherKit, which isn't available to previous versions of iOS. It also looks like it's using the new graphing library. WeatherKit is what will allow it to work on the other Apple platforms. There is no good reason
They really need to divorce the first party App updates from iOS software updates
Apple: “Earlier…versions? I don’t understand the question. There is only the current version. There is only now.”Is there any reason this has to be an iOS16 only thing? Why can't it just be an app also available to earlier versions of iOS once released?
I think they bought it to deny it to Android as much as to have it themselves. It is taking a long time the update one single app. I would want to maximize my purchase as soon as I could, not wait years.
But then why would anyone want to update? They do it to get people in the door.
I've personally enjoyed the weather app thus far. Its kinda neat seeing "rain starting in your area in 8 minutes" and then whadayaknow, it starts sprinkling in 8 minutes
