if i label a nude as hidden, does it show up in recent photos when people are scrolling through?
No, if they are hidden, they will not appear anywhere on your iPhone except in the hidden photos folder. Spotlight, recent photos, third party apps, etc won’t see it

EDIT: Apparently, some apps can somehow have access to these photos

dang, if i'm using a reddit app, a messaging app, or dating app, i'd like the ability to select photos to send through there. kinda pointless to have them but not be able to send them to who you want lol.

What the heck is the point, if I still can't lock out mail and messages? It still means any iOS device better only be handled by the owner never able to be passed around. Yes I need to be able to pass my iPad all the time and no I don't want them having access to my email or messages. I guess locking out deleted photos is super important as someone in CA doesn't understand the concept of deleting.

Clearly Apple wants you to buy an iPad for all your family members.

We all know why people requested so badly this feature
Why? i don't understand people who give access to their phone to anyone. And those who do, what makes you think you won't have to let her/him access protected albums? Makes no sense at all.

The following is, always has been and always will be true. If someone values the security of their device, they should not unlock their device and give it to someone. They shouldn’t even give their locked device to someone as physical access is the first phase of all security exploits on iDevices.
Basically saying that the iPad can NEVER be used in a work scenario, even as an employee you wouldn't want fellow employees to read your work emails

Don't care about family, this is basically saying every single business should go with something other than iOS devices. Number 16 just ridiculous for such an oversight - 16 times. Doesn't anyone in that round building think about using their products in a Pro environment they sure like using that word?

What do you do print out all info from your iOS device to share in small meetings or discussions where an overhead is not available?

They can definitely be used in work scenarios. There are lots of companies out there that do. Devices either aren’t used to check email (they have other systems for that) or they’re assigned to the person using it and, like their work phones, they aren’t supposed to share them.

Why would you ever put a personal account on a device meant for a professional environment?

Not to mention most companies' policies would never allow it, for obvious reasons. It's a huge security risk.

For example, my iOS testing devices all have dummy company issued accounts just to test basic features and for QA. It's not to daily drive.

I think the feature request here is multi user iOS. You dont want employee A reading employee B's work emails. Eg. You as the employer have 3 security guard shifts, with different group working weekends. You may have 6 employees using the same device for door access, security camera viewing, etc. But for email they cant share the same device.

Been asking for this feature for YEARS!!! There used to be a jailbreak app that allowed you to add messages from certain users to a “private” folder which was password protected or you could choose to lock individual threads. This seems so basic…

Random folks can’t find out UNLESS you’re in the habit of giving random folks access to your device, though. Don’t give anyone your device and, hidden or not, your images are your own!
I’m in the habit of handing my phone to my kids that shouldn’t see some pictures of their mother that she sends me when I’m on a business trip. Not all situations revolve around business privacy, or security threats. The ability to Lock messages and email is a no brainer

Now apple needs to automatically move those naughty bits to the hidden folder using ML to really put the icing on the cake!

Well, that’s not really random folks :) But, the same still applies. I, mean, I can understand folks wanting to take a device that has important personal information on it, unlocking it and then putting it out of their sight… wait, no, I can’t.

one thing I noticed just today, is if you are making a tweet or replying to tweet and want to attach a photo the hidden library is listed, not that it matters to me since I am the only person using this phone but thought that was kind of a strange thing for something that is supposedly hidden

does iOS 16 address that?

not entirely true Twitter sees them when you select your album list, I even tested by hiding hidden folder in General Settings, that hides them from photos app and Twitter still sees the folder
