iOS 17.1 Adds Custom Playlist Art Options to Apple Music

You can’t even sort Apple Music playlists in chronologically added order. I want to be able to play my latest added (mostly newer songs) from the get go.

Didn't they decouple all the stock apps from iOS years ago so they could update the apps via App Store whenever they wanted? So why do they remain tied to iOS updates? Makes no sense to me. iOS updates should be for actual OS updates and features, not for their apps. Really just makes it seem like they've run out of ideas with every major iOS release.

From my experience, many non tech savvy users will open App Store to search for the most basic apps like for example reminders, instead of looking through the stock apps because they just don’t know that they already have them, even though they would be ok using the stock over the 3rd party one. I think a big reason why Apple did that is to be able to show their apps on top of the results. Also so they can be ‘redownloaded’ if ‘deleted’.

Apple Music is the WORST music management system out there. Years and Years of problems with syncing (decades old concept still in use today), dropped tracks, dropped artwork, wrong artwork, try moving your collection to another drive and all those issues are amplified!. The whole concept is a Junior High School Computer class project yet Apple continues to leave it as a HUGE EPIC FAIL which is beyond mind blowing and quite embarrassing for a company in the state they are. Wait though....as long as you ONLY buy Apple Music or stream then funny how everything seems to work fine. Add if your LEGAL music ripped from obscure CDs, etc that are not available on AM or anywhere then all hell breaks loose. I would LOVE to sit with Craig F. and discuss this...

This has been the opposite of my experience for the last 20 years. I’m a songwriter and DJ with lots of my own music and mixes, which is exactly why I DONT use Spotify. iTunes, now Apple Music, have been fantastic for me as someone with lots of obscure mixes and ripped music.

Apple family sharing is a big commitment You need share your credit card in some ways etc.

I have this question too. Did you ever figure this out? I updated to iOS 17.2 last week and have created 2 playlists, and the first added song remains the playlist cover for about 2 seconds, then turns into one of the newfangled ones and I can’t get it to go back. Luckily I already had plans to change all my playlist art anyways, but IMO they shouldn’t get rid of the old way. Sheesh.
