I skipped the upgrade this year so I’m glad Apple is backporting a couple things for me. Nothing groundbreaking but still welcome.

80% charge limit? I never heard that one before. Just what I want, a product that I can only use to 80%. Sure.. next..
It works great! I spend a good deal of my time at work using wired CarPlay and limiting to 80% soc massively reduces strain on the battery. If I could use that feature only on CarPlay, that'd be perfect.

First week of "Spring" here and temps have already been 35c...hot cars and constant charging degrades batteries fast.

When the flashlight is activated on an iPhone 14Pro, ‌iPhone 14‌ Pro Max, iPhone 15, or ‌iPhone 15‌ Plus, there is now a flashlight icon in the Dynamic Island that lets you know that It is on. The flashlight icon for the ‌Dynamic Island‌ was previously limited to the iPhone 15 Pro and ‌iPhone 15 Pro‌ Max.

Walt, was Apple really trying to make this an iPhone 15 Pro feature?!?! 🤔 i would hate to believe Apple are going to start locking dynamic island features for newer models!

The point is iPhone with AOD can stay Always On. 🤷🏻
I was under the impression that stand by was always on anyway on a iPhone 14 Pro / 15 Pro.

I hoped we'd get always on Standby on older phones, since they are on the charger anyway.

I’ll never understand the complaints about features that aren’t enabled on old devices. Just because you want something to work on an old phone doesn’t mean it should.

I think they just need to eat their own dog food and drink their own shakes.

WatchOS 10, have you seen THAT! It’s a regression on all things UI and UX, and performance, and everything… checking the Weather puts you on a harder to read colorful screen (black background was perfectly fine and more readable than what’s there now) that has not so useful information except the temperature (which we knew already before tapping on the complication).
I switched mine to the second screen with the weather in the middle and the colorful circle around it (with times of day and temps) and now every time I start weather, that’s where it puts me. If that works for you, then it’s one swipe up to get to the 10 day forecast (or turn the digital crown).

OH and there's another bug I hope EVERYONE will report:

In iOS 16, a new great feature was introduced: anywhere on the native full screen video player interface (that pops up in safari), you could start swiping left or right to navigate the video. Now in iOS 17 when you try that, the whole video moves left and right. Why would anyone want that?

Indeed. The backward/forward swipe gesture for videos was working for me about five days ago, then abruptly stopped. The dragging of the entire video from side to side when I attempt to swipe now is one of the most obnoxious things I’ve ever seen.

Also, I’m completely unimpressed with the new “favorites” option for Apple Music. Adding favorites to the library should be an option - it’s not something every user wants when they favorite a track. Furthermore, instead of the ability to love a song by tapping on the Lock Screen widget, or a gimmick like color-matched playlist artwork, I would prefer that Apple Shortcuts offer a Home Screen playlist widget for Apple Music that actually OPENS and SHOWS your playlist rather than just playing the songs in the background. Or a Music widget that has skip and seek buttons, not just a single play/pause button.

Hey Apple,

How about with the tweaks to the "now playing" stuff you listen to your customers and GIVE US A WAY TO GET RID OF THE DAMM ****ING NOW PLAYING THING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gosh I FREAKING HATE IT.

I don't give a damn what is playing on my kid's iPod in his room, for instance. And yet IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE from my phone.

GGGGAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I HATE IT SO MUCH!
