Does anyone else remember that when they announced Qi 2 they said that it would have a different, incompatible magnet array from MagSafe? Weird. Glad they changed course there but like... why did they even say that?

"There are a few wrinkles that give me pause. First, Golden confirms that the Qi2 standard strangely doesn’t have the exact same pattern of magnets as MagSafe and that it’s not clear what will happen with current iPhones because of that."

Good to know. Hopefully the 15 models will support the faster speeds with Qi2

Well, yes...

Apple is in the experiences business. Their number one priority is delighting customers through incredible innovation, regardless of whether there is a financial gain.
Yea, and they are doing a pretty good job. One of the reasons being that they don't only earn money on selling new kit, that's why we see these type of updates i guess.

Yep. That’s definitely the case. I was invested in MagBack accessories before I got my 12 mini, guess I never looked closely enough at that point.

I’m *loving* MagSafe on my 13 mini now 🤷‍♂️
iPhone 13 mini is limited to 12W at its fastest MagSafe charging speed, I wonder if this limitation will stop Apple giving that phone this particular update feature in iOS 17.2? For your sake I hope not. At the very least they should allow coming Qi2 chargers to charge it at 12W.
