As I expected, which was only logical, the new emojis introduced with iOS 17.4 are incompatible with the latest version of watchOS (10.3.1).

Is this the first time Apple updates iOS and neglects to update watchOS at the same time? If memory serves, Apple has always released an update to watchOS whenever it releases an update to iOS.

In my opinion, it is nothing short of negligence on Apple's part to release an update to iOS which includes new emojis, and not release a corresponding update to watchOS so that these new emoji can be rendered on Apple Watch.

More serious than the lack of support for the new emojis on the current version of watchOS: I'm assuming the two "major security vulnerabilities" that were fixed by iOS 17.4 may exist on watchOS as well (since watchOS is based on iOS). If this is the case, then watchOS will remain vulnerable until it is updated.

I'm including screenshots of the lime emoji on iOS 17.4, and what actually shows up instead of the new lime emoji on watchOS 10.3.1.

It happened before that watchOS was released a day later. Just relax. U guess the new Update will be live later today.

We are still at this catastrophic point in time where there are numerous emojis on iOS that aren't supported by the latest publicly available version of watchOS. One can only hope this is soon resolved.

They had to release iOS 17.4 to meet the deadline set by the EU. That's why watchOS, macOS and so on are out of sync.
