I just upgraded to iOS 17 beta 2 on an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and my wallpaper is completely broken. Here is everything that happens:

1. Lock screen and Dock are both completely black.
2. Pressing and holding the lock screen does not trigger any response - it does not bring up the wallpaper/customize options.
3. When going into Settings>Wallpaper, I'm prompted to add new wall paper, but pressing the + just freezes the screen for a few seconds and cannot go any further.
4. If I press the share icon on a photo, and then press "Use as Wallpaper", nothing happens.

Does anyone know of a fix for this?

I had the same thing happen late on B1. Restarting fixed that one for me. #2 on your list persists on B2. The first press and hold is ignored 100% of the time. Releasing and pressing again does the trick.

The one I’ve been having through B1 and 2 is the Lock Screen wallpaper getting blown way up. This has happened with both stock and personal wallpapers. Switching to another and back resolves this.

Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately none of these solutions are working. Restarting/Rebooting hasn’t helped, and not matter how many times I press and hold the Lock Screen, I get nothing :(.

I did a hard restart as well, still no screens. Since the configs were missing, I loaded up a new one. When I went to save it, suddenly my previous screens were available and active. This was iOS 17DB2 on an iPhone XS

If you find a solution please let me know. Backed up my 13 Pro Max, erased all contents and settings, restored backup and now black screens as well

I solved the same problem by restoring an old iOS 16.5 backup after installing 17. Restoring iOS 17 backups bring black wallpapers as well

I have the same problem and I tried the same solutions to no avail. Actually there was no problem after first installing the B2, but Apple Store made me revert back to ios 16 to replace my battery. After that I installed 17b2 again and restored my iTunes backup which took 8 hours! Now I have a black wallpaper no matter what.

I also used Shortcuts app to change the wallpaper but it gives an "unable to set wallpaper photo" error.

I think I've found a solution to this issue. You can try changing the iPhone’s region. In my case, the region was set to Philippines then I changed it to US. Afterwards, go to Settings > Wallpaper. You should be able to see your old wallpaper. If your region is currently set to US you can try changing it to Philippines then go to Settings > Wallpaper and check if you can see your old wallpaper. If not, try to set the region to US again.

Thank you! This solved my wallpaper problem. I set my region to the USA, and wallpaper settings were enabled again. When I switched back to Turkey, I still had the black wallpaper but changed my wallpaper to another lock/home pair, this repaired my preferred wallpaper. This might be related to calendar or battery widget in the Lock Screen.

I’m using an iPhone 14 Pro Max. UK region and was having the exact same problem.

I changed my region to US then back to UK and it solved the issue instantly.

I have an iphone 13 pro, configured with the region of my country, Spain, and I have no problem with the wallpapers or their configuration in either of the two betas.
The only thing I've noticed is that the dynamic wallpapers sometimes take a little longer to update, but I attribute that more to saving battery power at night than to a failure of the wallpapers.

Weird thing happened to me, LOL: I did this switch of region a few days ago and it did not resolve the home screen / wallpaper problem for me. Yes I rebooted the phone twice. Still, home screen was just black.

All of a sudden, this morning, I wake up and look at the phone and it took me a second to realize why I felt something was wrong - the home screen and wallpaper came back sometime in the night. No clue why. Phone did not seem to reboot (PIN was not required).

Go figure.

Solution:
1. Set the Region to United States
2. Set language to English (UK)
3. Make new focus profile and set up new wallpaper for lock screen as well as for home page
4. Everything should be okay now and you can switch back to your home language and region
