I have had no issues all the way through this beta run. The rc is the worst by far. No apps are using an excess of power than normal. I may try a fresh install and see if that helps.

Definitely try an IPSW install - it does not take long and overwrites everything nicely.

I had the worst battery life on my 14 Pro with beta 8. After installing the RC, I made a backup and restored from scratch. Battery life has been great so far after that. 🤞🏽

Doesn’t that erase everything?

Not at all, as it is still an Update, rather than Restore, so none of your data will be lost. The only possible drawback over OTA updates is that it is quite a big file (over 7 GB) to download. However, the RC OTA file is also quite hefty at 6+ GB, so not a big deal. IPSW way can fix quite a few lingering issues, so is well worth using, especially with big releases like this.

How is your battery holding up? I get about 10 hours screen time on 16.1.1. I’m hoping it doesn’t tank on my 13 PM
If you’re fine with going from 10 hours to 6 then sure, why not.
Ps. That’s literally what has happened to me with my 13PM. Today I’m at 6h13m with 21% left BUT I plugged the phone when it was at something around 30% and charged it to 61% so… yeah.

Have you guys tried to see what exactly uses up your batteries in the Battery stats in Settings? Perhaps some apps need updating (after the public release on Monday)?

I am running iOS 17 RC on my 12 mini (84% battery capacity) and cannot see major issues. I get about 4:20 of SOT, which is pretty good for a 12 mini.

Read your post and took a look although I have a 13 Promax. Find My is listed but doesn't show any value. So I went into System Services and I usually have about 50% turned off and found that all but Suggestions & Searches turned back on.

Possible culprit.

Oof! Thanks for the heads up.

I think I have about the same battery life in my 13PM. Very happy.

For example today. Unplugged the phone at 6:03am.

same and I installed RC from scratch without restoring from a backup. Already charged it twice to 100% today and it’s at 49% again by 10 pm 🫠
Let’s hope that further updates will improve it. I’ve got the same issue😕

can you do an IPSW without a Mac? I only have a PC

thanks
Yes, you need to use iTunes to restore. When on the device page, to select the IPSW file: press and hold shift + click "restore iPhone"

I only fear what's going to happen when I download the public next monday
Install the RC now then you will know and can go back to 16.6.1 if you want.

Yes, today the mail app ran 4 hrs in background. Other than that nothing else has seemed off. Yesterday it was about the same with lots of mail background activity being reported. I guess 7 + hrs for the day with release day XR with 85% batt health not bad actually. 🙂 But typically I go to bed with battery left and last two days have to plug in to use before bed. I may delete mail accts and add back to see what happens.

I suspect so now. iTunes was updated yesterday to support new iP15 so it should work now.

Anyone still on iPhone 11 Pro Max that upgraded to iOS 17 RC?

What iOS 17 features are not available on iPhone 11 Pro Max?
