iOS 17 will feature "major" changes to Control Center on the iPhone, according to a MacRumors forum member who leaked accurate details about the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 14 Pro before the device was announced last year.

In an email, the anonymous source added that iOS 17 will be focused on performance and stability improvements, suggesting that a revamped Control Center could be one of the more prominent changes coming with the software update. Apple is expected to announce iOS 17 during the WWDC 2023 keynote on June 5, and as usual, the first beta version should be made available to developers for testing later that day.

The source did not provide any specific details about changes planned for Control Center, which has looked largely the same since iOS 11 was released in 2017. The menu provides iPhone users with convenient access to controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, display brightness, volume, and many other system functions. On the iPhone X and newer, Control Center can be opened by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen.

Introduced with iOS 7, Control Center turns 10 this year. On a speculative basis, Apple could make Control Center more customizable and revamp the menu's design after six years of minimal changes, but exact changes if any remain to be seen.

While the forum member has a proven track record, this rumor has yet to be corroborated by other sources, and Apple's plans are subject to change.

Let's hear what people would like to see in control center!

I'm not sure what changes I'd like to see.

Maybe more clock and widget customization. I'd like more options when placing widgets. Sometimes they cover part of a picture that if placed differently I could avoid.

Thank goodness. Lets start with Airplay / Screen sharing. What on earth happened ever since i dont know when I can't figure out show to shut it off / turn it on sound/ only vs sound and video, and forget it when my Home Pods are playing from the apple TV and im near them its takes over my phone ill be in an app try to use my volume and all the sudden i'm controlling the TV, not my phone.... Ahhhh fix this mess

Until the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles actually toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth again, I can't say as I really care since that is one of the most ridiculous changes to have ever been made to Control Center.
Absolutely false. If you desperately need to turn these features off which absolutely should be on 100% of the time, you know where to find them. The rest of the iPhone market that doesn't even know what those buttons do are protected from accidentally turning them off permanently.

It might be related to the addition of some more features in iOS 17 that necessitates changes from the current control center. Of course we don't know what iOS 17 will introduce.

I would like to remove widgets that I don’t use, like Portrait Orientation, Screen Mirroring and Focus. I would also like to rearrange the widgets that would suit me. And swiping the top right of the screen isn’t intuitive. Furthermore, I would like to disconnect from a WiFi source that I am connected to automatically, without having to switch off WiFi completely.

Basically, I shouldn’t have to go to the Settings app, as Control Center should be a shortcut for the most used functions in there

In your opinion. I toggle both of those (but mostly Wi-Fi) rather frequently and there's no reason Apple can't provide a preference to make the Control Center toggles not worthless if we so-choose.

Switching a software toggle is not "permanent." Nonetheless, just because other users might be stupid or ignorant doesn't mean I don't still want proper functionality.

Give us a scenario where you need to completely disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permanently from Control Centre. It's possible in Settings > Wi-Fi.

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Press-and-Hold on Wi-Fi icon.
  3. Press-and-Hold on the second Wi-Fi icon.
  4. Tap "Wi-Fi Settings".
  5. Disable Wi-Fi.
Or do the same by accessing the Settings app directly.

Or simply toggle Airplane Mode to immediately disable all wireless connections.

What is your concern about how it currently works?
