See, I want the opposite. I want the intelligent suggestions, so I don't have to program it. Just make it smarter.
That would be fine if they allocated space for more buttons in the control center. As it is right now no matter how much smarter they make it there are only two scenes slots it can work with, so (at least for my needs) it wouldn't be enough.

I am concerned with the volume control being in the control center. Apple could easily remove the volume buttons in future devices instead of converting them to electronic buttons.

Keep in mind that Airplane Mode does not turn off bluetooth or wifi.

Airplane mode remembers whether you want wifi or bluetooth on or off when Airplane mode is enabled.

For example, if you turn on Airplane mode then turn on wifi or bluetooth, those settings will remain on the next time you enable Airplane mode.

If you turn on Airplane mode then turn off wifi or bluetooth, those settings will turn off the next time you enable Airplane mode.

This is an awesome feature, but I’m surprised Apple did this because it’s quite unintuitive which goes against Apple’s ethos.

If you're having to manually connect airpods via control center, you're not using them as apple designed. They're designed to automatically connect to or switch to the current device you're using as long as it's signed into your apple id, without any action on your behalf other than putting them in your ears and starting some media.
That may be how they're designed. It ain't how they work, in practice, however!

If “major changes” means:

1. An easier way to access
2. Customizability

Great. Sign me up. Apple is the best.

I think their argument when they made the change is that people would do it and forget to turn it back on

Or even accidentally do it and not realize they had done it to begin with, since there's no confirmation dialogue. I remember I was surprised to find out both Windows 10 and 11 by default immediately send files to the Recycling bin when you press the delete key--no confirmation dialogue (you have to enable that in the Recycle Bin properties). That's even worse! Very bad UI decision, imo.

In your opinion. I toggle both of those (but mostly Wi-Fi) rather frequently and there's no reason Apple can't provide a preference to make the Control Center toggles not worthless if we so-choose.
It's not an opinion. At all. They shouldn't be turned off. Period. There are niche rare circumstances for when turning them off would be necessary, and all of those are satisfied by turning them off for the rest of the day.

What’s with those people wanting it to be swipe from the bottom?

It was ALREADY swipe from the bottom. The reason Apple moved it to the top is them ditching the home button on iPhones starting with iPhone X. Without a home button there needed to be a way the user can get to the Home Screen. So they made swiping from the bottom takes you to the home screen and moved the control center to the top right.

Until the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth toggles actually toggle Wi-Fi and Bluetooth again, I can't say as I really care since that is one of the most ridiculous changes to have ever been made to Control Center.
Wholeheartedly agree.

Please make the airport, cellular, WiFi be just toggles again or include turn off completely a sub-menu option. Or more importantly add them as options to focus modes.

This assumption that everyone wants WiFi on all the time is false. Why do I have to set up shortcuts to basically turn off WiFi when I leave home (and even that won’t run without confirmation). I have reason to do so; so please don’t force me into average normalcy!

No. We don't need change for change's sake. it took 10 years, but the current UI is slick and minimal. I do miss the fun-ness of the skeuomorphic design, though. Maybe they can bring back a touch of that without doing a complete redesign, like the page-turning effect that they re-added to the Books app?

This current design aesthetic is so incredibly old and stale at this point. There is nothing about it that would be change for change sake, it needs it.

Some random ideas about this:
- the new action button on the 15 Pro could be used to summon the new control center, among other things
- this is the first major iOS revamp after the release of iPhones with an always-on display, what if there's some control center functionality in the lockscreen (also: remember that all 2025 iPhones will get always-on LTPO displays, including the non-Pro iPhone 17 and 17 Plus)
- the convention of swiping down from the upper right corner is a relic of the iPhone X large-notch era (the notch defined those corner zones on its sides), by 2025 the iPhone 17 Pro will get a dynamic punch hole and those side zones won't even exist anymore
- on Plus and Max phones the upper right corner is hard to reach with one hand, yet another reason to gradually break this convention (first as an opt-in alternative in 2023, then kill it on the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025, just like the iPhone X killed the previous swipe-from-the-bottom convention in 2017)
- we need a quick way to use the iPhone as a keyboard/remote/controller for the new mixed reality experience, the new control center could somehow be involved in this (and also improve on the tvOS remote experience)
- some changes in the control center could be related to Apple's future expansion in the smart home

Give us a scenario where you need to completely disable Wi-Fi and Bluetooth permanently from Control Centre. It's possible in Settings > Wi-Fi.

  1. Open Control Center.
  2. Press-and-Hold on Wi-Fi icon.
  3. Press-and-Hold on the second Wi-Fi icon.
  4. Tap "Wi-Fi Settings".
  5. Disable Wi-Fi.
Or do the same by accessing the Settings app directly.

Or simply toggle Airplane Mode to immediately disable all wireless connections.

What is your concern about how it currently works?
5 steps to replace a single toggle. Please give me back the simple toggle.

Sounds like you're not using scenes correctly. Scenes are not groups.
I have several themes controlling things in my home that trigger automatically and a few that I use manually when I need to have specific lightning/accessories powered on. For example, I have a cooking scene that toggles on a few lights, starts some air vents, and adjusts the thermostat.

What would you suggest that I use to toggle several devices at once?

I'm wondering if the changes might instead (or also) be about the changes to the hardware, with rumoured solid-state buttons being added… If one of those is an 'Action' button like on Watch Ultra, perhaps it will default to/be configurable to activating Control Centre.
