With all the hype regarding Apple Intelligence, combined with ChatGPT, typing a text message, or responding to Facebook posts, the keyboard word prediction is no more intuitive than before. Having had several Google Pixel phones to compare, Apple isn’t even close in its ability to predict and suggest, based on what I’m commenting about. As a simple example, iOS doesn’t suggest “you” when I type the word “Thank.” Too much emphasis on voice to text and not nearly enough on keyboard to text.
I have issues with voice to text. Most of the time when I’m done using it and turn it off it removes text on screen. I don’t know why. As I’m saying it it gets the text right but once I’m done it reverts to something that’s wrong.

Curious, have you tried: Settings > Notifications > Mail > Customize Notifications > select “All Unread Messages”
Do you get audio notifications when your emails arrive? Many of us don’t - and we know how to get the settings correct…

Isn’t that helpful to know things are moving? And then reasoning it’s probably delivered? It’s like unintentional click-bait!

I find the summaries great, and I get it and rather enjoy that it’s not quite right sometimes. It gives me a laff

Early FSD on my Tesla had me and friends laughing so hard we nearly cried a few times. One time we came across tons of cones in a construction zone that had the car just STRUGGLING, jittering like an unsure child.. and now that never happens

Early visuals were a gas too, like people walking when no one was there. Or strange vehicles showing up on the screen.. reminds me of old gaming where the glitching was rather fun back in the early days of at-home consoles or Commodores

Love early beta testing.. it’s a gas. Make fun of it, have a laugh.. and before you know it you’ll have correct AI and FSD and look for the next early tech to test and goof with..
I absolutely love your whole attitude to this. Anyone who downloads a test version of software is testing it. It goes wrong? Smile, knowing that it'll be right later on. And I love most of the summaries - and some are very funny...

Couple of new / odd ones this fine Monday morning…
15PM

In Safari, all my bookmarks have lost their icons.
In Mail, badge reads 1, open Mail and it reads 38, manual refresh reads 27, and leaving open, in a few minutes it reverts back to 38. Physical check in each inbox shows 27.
Reading a book in Kindle on both my 15PM and S24Ultra. On the 15PM, frequently the “latest read” will not update.

Crazy beta…

Indeed... It is true. I always use dev or public betas to help finding bugs and report all of them. But even in stable iOs 18 releases I get a terrible battery life. Even I like to help reporting bugs... Totally regretted doing the update from iOs 17. And so no ipsw available for doing downgrade. Sad

So far this beta is okay minus the autocorrect issue I had on 18.2 where the prediction text scrambles as I type :/ It’s back again as of this beta for me. Tried hard reset, reboots etc etc no luck. Hope the next beta fixes it :)

I’ve had the icons missing from bookmarks off and on iOS 18.2 betas near the end, then fixed on final. Again that’s back too for me. I just remembered haha 😆 They show maybe 20% of the time.

Happy to hear - I had to erase/restore to get them to work properly. Now the issue is there is no way to get them to not show in the emoji keyboard (I prefer to keep them separate and it also causes keyboard lag for me).

Yea, I wasn’t going down that road after reading that somewhere. Hm, not seeing keyboard lag that the sticker is also in the emoji’s list.

Contacts

My contacts - Group1 is Contract, Group2 is Family, Group3 is General. No iCloud Contact backup. All Contacts come from a specific GMail account. Had a few of calls yesterday where it just showed the number instead of the caller id or contact info. Recents showed the same.
So far this morning, all is fine. Messages was fine.
