Hmm... this is listed here as being new in 18.4, but it's been happening for a while (since 18.0?) on my phone. I turned it off at the time, and it's still off now.

*confused*

Why would this ever be a good idea to enable by default????
This information is easily accessible via browser history anyway, and it seems easier than going through the list of mixed webpages and search links to bring something back. If you need the privacy, there's always private mode.

Good article. Happy to see that there is an option to turn it off. I prefer it to be turned off. Wonder why it is not available for the iPad. Expecting to see it for the iPad in one of the upcoming updates.

Of course, the option isn’t available on the ipad.
It’s weird how apple just cannot keep feature parity across its platforms right now.

You have to imagine that moving this toggle to iPadOS is pretty trivial.

Im starting to think that Apple’s software engineering team is just a few people in a small cramped room in the basement.

I’m puzzled as to why this feature was added. It seems more than a little anti privacy in the same generation where you can lock and hide apps.

Maybe put the team who were working on this into the Siri team? Just a thought.

Man, you guys must be into some crazy ****… and be really bad at using private browsing.

Personally: I like the new change. It’s often the case that I’m searching for the same thing multiple times within the span of a few days. For instance, I’ve been looking at moving companies… and I’m sure I’ve searched for “long haul moving company” more than a dozen times in the last few weeks…

Also: why all the complaining when they gave you the option to turn it off?

Macrumors has gone seriously downhill… everyone here is a privacy nut Luddite…
