as far as i know, similar to curation, the indexing would be completed if you leave your phone connected to power and stayed overnight. When I type a search into the Photos app, the results screen indicates that indexing is still running:

There are dumb phones (contrary to smart phones) available in the market for old folks. Big screen, large fonts. The trustful Nokia 3210 is one of the good choices. As I get older, I start to understand why old people are often so rude and angry.
You get used to something. Perhaps you even like it. Then it gets taken away from you and replaced with something inferior. On iOS/macOS this is something you have to deal with every year. Every year something I use is taken away.
My elderly mother is in tears every year because she has to keep relearning how to use her phone and computer. Maybe that would be ok if things were for the better, but they never are. UI peaked a long time ago, and now it’s just change for the sake of change.
Or alphabetize the names of the albums. I must have nearly 100 of them. They need to simply add a search function for Albums. Having to scroll through them is a pain, especially with how they changed the layout in the update, ugh. A quick search by name would be so much easier for people that have dozens of galleries.
you can no longer search by exact date. I found that to be very useful previously. But now you can only search up to a year and month, which is a step backwards.
Agreed. There should be sort options. A-Z, Z-A, Date new to old, Date old to new. AND a search at the top. Instagram stories added this recently and I’ve been asking Apple to add it via feedback submissions for several years.Or alphabetize the names of the albums. I must have nearly 100 of them.
Yes. But I think I prefer alphabetizing. I have a lot of old photos and people give me old photos occasionally. I take a picture of them to scan them into my library, but I may never remember, when looking for them, exactly when I put them in. However, I do put them in the appropriate album they should go in. When searching for them I would then look by the subject matter name. Hopefully Apple will do this in the future.Agreed. There should be sort options. A-Z, Z-A, Date new to old, Date old to new. Apple also ruined photos with video playback. It’s an abomination. You can’t watch videos properly frame by frame, they removed the timeline at the bottom and it’s impossible to get to exact frames. The time dragged is on top of the video and the video opens in a small screen. Then when zooming in at all you can’t watch the entire duration of the video. It is a combo of bugs and disgusting UX backwards updates.
Tried again the date search.you can no longer search by exact date. I found that to be very useful previously. But now you can only search up to a year and month, which is a step backwards.
Happy birthday Siri!Agreed. There should be sort options. A-Z, Z-A, Date new to old, Date old to new. AND a search at the top. Instagram stories added this recently and I’ve been asking Apple to add it via feedback submissions for several years.
