How to get ready.

Keep a charging cable handy. You'll need it.

I botched backing up 17 on my 15PM so now I'm stuck with the beta unless I want to start from scratch. Not doing that. I'll just keep charging and waiting. Charging and waiting.

This is probably my last go around with betas for a while. Next time I will not jump in that swimming pool so quickly.

And it's my OWN FAULT. I get it. The developer beta isn't meant for your daily driver. I would say the same for the public beta. Just wait.

Then again, Apple never intended for you to use a beta on your main device, or so they say 😆
Once you have made sure to have a fall back process with external backups, DFU capabilities that you or a Apple store staff can execute, the biggest task for you is learning about all the changes that matter to you that Apple has implemented before installing betas. Know what you are getting into!

A beta is not for perspectives that aren't tech savvy, or not willing to learn and utilize the next OS. There is always a small chance of something unusual which is why they usually say that, its also keeps some that diffidently shouldn't tinker with their devices away from betas irregardless of developer vs Public Beta. ;)

iOS 18 Public Beta Coming Soon: How to Get Your iPhone Ready?

By keeping it as far away from the Beta as possible.

Seriously been running the dev beta since beta 1 and it’s been one of the worst betas I’ve ever tested. Constant and I mean constant springboard crashes when using the camera or searching for things. Beta 2 and 3 have been similarly bad in their stability. It’s frankly not useable in its current state and should not go to public beta until they’re resolve the crashing issues.

That’s the risk of running betas. I’ve not experienced any of that personally. If that were my experience, I’d restore back to my archived backup. You made a backup, right?

Nice to see my iPhone SE 2 is compatible for iOS 18. Which will likely be the last iOS for which it will be compatible. Still, I’ll get to play with the new AI stuff before deciding whether to upgrade my phone next year or sticking with my SE2.

The new Apple Intelligence features will only be supported on the 15 Pro for now. The rest of us (even me with my 14 Pro) don’t get any of it apparently.

There used to be a time when I will rush to update. Nowadays I don’t have the urge, as the key features are mostly delayed.

So rather than enjoying the key new features early, we are now indeed just beta testers 😂
