No way, look at the comparison of the Mac Versions of parts of that OS. Everything still in play, no tighten of version numbering.

Gurman laid out the road map. And that road map makes a lot of sense. Although nothing is ever a certainty with Apple, I think he is more likely correct here than the two of you are.

Some people might lose their minds if they don't release 18.0.1 this week. M4 iPad owners come to mind, touch screen issues for 16 owners, and some big battery issues across the board. I don't think Apple can wait until next week.

Welp that's why we have beta versions, I'd expect such stuff when I'm trying out betas. But it shouldn't happen with final versions like iPadOS 18.

Apple is clearly prioritising the 18.1 update because of the AI features.

if we get 18.1 RC next week I could see them skipping it

to be honest ... Apple has so many construction sites at the moment with maybe 99% resources put into getting the promised AI features out, I wouldn't be surprised if they just skip

They didn't know about the touch screen issues until sunday maybe they went back to add that in as a a fix
