iOS 18 to Bring These 5 New Features to AirPods Pro

Looks like with all these updates (and last year ones), is a good thing to upgrade from Pros 1 to USB-C Pros 2.

The head gestures are interesting. Lots of people are going to look silly moving their head to do things.

If they opened the gestures to third parties, “Let us bow our heads in payment” could be a real (and dangerous) thing.

I *think* that right now voice isolation is done entirely on iPhone, and with iOS 18 some of the voice isolation processing will be done also on the AirPods Pro. But I’m also confused.

I wish they would be clear which Airpods Pro will receive these updates. I always assume that Gen 1 won't get the latest and greatest, but it'd be sweet if they did.

I just need wind noise cancellation. Seriously, they are so bad with wind, it's like the AirPods Pro 2 enhance wind noises. Sony does a good job with wind noise cancellation.

Voice isolation definitely works now with AirPods. I can vacuum with it on and my voice is audible and the vacuum is not. I’m really confused by this as well.

I personally am excited about hearing aids mode. I currently use Sony hearing aids and can stream audio to them from my phone, but the sound, while very rich, is not as good as the AirPod Pro 2s sound. And I have to hold up the phone for speaking to people on calls, because the mic in the hearing aids doesn’t function as a phone mic. Anyway, fingers crossed 🤞🏻

I'm so confused... Voice Isolation already exists for AirPods Pro, what is different? Why is this being shown as a new feature?

Is that they are expanding it from FaceTime calls to regular phone calls?

It’s on the iPhone itself. It’s new cause it’s going through the AirPods now. iPhone microphones took care of the work.

It would be great if latency could be reduced so we can use them to make music in GarageBand or Logic properly, but I guess this is a Bluetooth issue. Still, it would be amazing to have no latency. Apple should pursue this goal.

Believe me, it’s not. My APP are trash in semi loud environments.

If the original APP are getting these features (bar adaptive audio), it’d be fantastic.

I’m looking to ditch my PC speakers, so if my APP can be improved for gaming, that’s pretty big for me, as I’ll be moving into my first apartment & I don’t want to disturb the peace with my gaming. Hopefully they also work well with consoles.

I’m still waiting for flat response for sound mixing. It’s something that could be done in software and would be a really useful addition. I’ve submitted it as a suggested feature, so you never know…

Except when google has been doing this for a couple years now, and their buds are half the price of AirPods Pro. I believe you can do it with iPhone too, just need the google translate app.
