iOS 18 Will Let You Activate Third-Party Camera From iPhone's Lock Screen or Action Button

Now let developers access the action button so it can be used as a shutter in third party camera apps, as a control input in games, etc.

Just press the volume button.

I mean, I'm really unlikely to ever use a 3rd party camera app, but I'm glad Apple is doing this for people who do.

I just use the camera as a quick note-taker, stuff like the password on the back of a printer. I'd be quite happy with an iPhone SE+ - big screen, no camera bulge, single small camera. As far as I'm concerned the iPhone 5 camera was good enough.

It is time for the EU to step in. Other developers should be able to make a settings app, which you can use to set the action button or lockscreen button to the apple camera. i think it is unfair, that you can only do it the other way around!

I never understood why there's a camera icon there in the first place when you can swipe the screen to get to the camera 🤷🏻‍♂️

Does anyone if you can choose to have nothing at the bottom part of the screen ? and if you have nothing there is there still a place holder taking up that space ?
