Same here. Just got myself a pro and tbh, it does need a few more unique things to make it "pro". Not just a better cam and 120hz screen.
Or differentiate it so that the regular can hook up to one screen and the pro can utilize two external screens or something like that. A bit like the Macbook air and Macbook pro.
Yeah, given that only the iPhone Pro has a USB-C 3.1 at 10gbps, and the base iPhone has only a USB-C 2.0 port, then, that’s another clue that they might restrict this “docking solution” to the Pro models.
Also, you mention some of the few differentiators between an iPhone and an iPhone Pro, but one of those differentiators, the high refresh rate, is going to disappear as soon as next years iPhone 17 comes with one.
So, yes, if they implement this solution, it is likely that it will be only applied to the Pro models.
I’ve never been an iPhone Pro customer, tbh. I always prefer smaller, and lighter devices. And this feature won’t change my mind, because I am the owner of an awesome M2 iPad Pro with 1TB and 16GB of RAM that I already use connected to the external monitor. However, if I didn’t have the iPad Pro, this feature would definitely make me think about buying an iPhone Pro. From the business standpoint, it makes sense.
