I got a couple from my iOS 18 wishlist this year, but they were a little hard to find and not quite what I expected:
  • Hide apps. It’s there, but as a security feature and not a customization thing. It's also poorly implemented as I can't hide most of the Apple apps like Health, Fitness, Feedback, etc. The real issue is hiding apps breaks them. Hiding AdGuard disabled the extension in Safari. Makes sense as a security feature, but I just want a cleaner App Library where I don’t have to see apps I never/rarely launch, but still need. I need my Shokz app and my TP Link Tether app, but actually open them twice a year or so, so let me bury them until I specifically look for them.
  • Hide widget names. Using the large home icons, the widget names and icon names disappear. I was okay with icon names, don’t like the larger icons, but will take it.

Still waiting for in iOS 19:
  • An actual icon picker
  • Toggle for App Library to be the alpha sort by default instead of an additional gesture
  • Make the App Library alpha sort look more like the watchOS list view
  • Ability to rename/remove app category names in App Library and move apps between categories
  • Ability to rename (nickname) apps
  • Split screen apps
  • Get rid of the jelly wiggle when editing the home screen
  • Toggle to turn off or speed up FaceID animations
  • Turn off the annoying waveform animation in dynamic island
  • Dynamic island press action defaulted to the long-press action like it always should have been
  • Bring ye olde Dark Sky UI to that ugly Weather app

simultaneous audio? Don't know if it's there but I doubt it. What I mean by that is the current audio source won't stop every time you play a video or start another audio source. This is especially annoying when browsing the web sometime while listening music. This is a basic feature that should be there since a good 10 years now.

I use large label-less app icons on Home Screen. It would be nice if there was still a way to tell which apps have just been updated, similar to a blue dot on small app icons. I guess, I could always use App Store's Recently Updated list.

For the love of god, just give me a select all or swipe gesture to delete iMessage attachments (mainly photos) without having to click on each photo one by one. I have been waiting patiently for this since like iOS 12 or whatever but it seems like this is still not possible. Time to finally give up and to go back to WhatsApp full time.

I’d also like to be able to share my actual focus status (opt in). Sleeping is different than „in a meeting“ or „at the cinema“.

Yeah I'd really like to see this too, along with individual volume sliders so you can make one app louder than another or even mute an app.

7. No way to know which number/email I just received that FaceTime call on, or which number/email I just received that iMessage on.
Did they remove this capability? In iOS 17 and prior you can check it by opening the contact sheet for the person who for example Facetimed you (through the Facetime app call log); it'll say "recent" next to the contact detail that is on file and was used. Same with iMessage.

No, that you can do. But that's not what I'm talking about.

See, I have several emails and numbers that you can FaceTime me on and iMessage me on. I want to know which one of my emails or numbers you just FaceTimed me on. No way to know.

FaceTime randomly switches from WIFI to cellular on iOS 17 lol. It’s random and used to be even worse a few versions prior. It’s rearing its head again. Not sure what would prompt it to switch from a Gigabit connection to 1 bar of LTE.

yes, and along that issue. FaceTime use to have all the iPhone accessible buttons and controls— they strip all that away. the irony being with the advent of Continuity we could use our Mac as "an extension of our phone" (no longer needing to keep you iPhone at hand while at your Mac.) that was super! now its challenging to get that basic info if contact A called.. what time? how many times? all that is wiped from the UI now. SAD

Yeah, it removes everything. No "recently updated" blue dot and no "offloaded" cloud symbol.

Plus the bigger icons make the phone look even more like a toy, especially when they could have kept the icons the same size and then had an extra row of them at the bottom.

This may be more of a macOS 16 request. But, I suppose it directly ties into the iPhone as well. And it's most likely wishful thinking.

Currently, I can mirror my iPhone to my Mac in the betas, and I use my Mac a lot on my exercise bike desk. So I just have my mirrored iPhone screen to the side showing my current stats (calories, heart rate, time and rings). I think it would be kind of nice to have this data in it's own floating, PIP-style window or in the Mac's menu bar so I can always see it without having that big iPhone mirroring screen up.

I’d also like to see more interactions between the two devices. Let me pin an iPhone app somewhere on my Mac (launchpad, dock, desktop, etc). Open that to open up the iPhone Mirroring app and directly open the app on my iPhone.

If this can be expanded even further, maybe these apps can even launch outside of the limited iPhone Mirroring window, and launch the iPad version of these apps running directly off the iPhone; as I know the Mac has a lot of compatibility issues running these iPad apps directly from the Mac. Going even further, let me have multiple apps running at once like this as I'm sure modern iPhones can easily handle this.

I could be wrong, but doesn't Android kind of work like this already with Windows. Or Samsung Dex?

Here’s mine…

  • Live TV and more streaming services directly viewable in the TV app without opening another app
  • Standalone Phone app for iPad (for WiFi calling) with access to voicemails and call history
  • Fitness activity/workout data history and Fitness widget on the iPad
  • Wallet app with account balance and all transaction history for all cards, and an iPad app
  • Journal app on the iPad with handwriting support
  • Native food and nutrition logging in Health
  • I’d like for the widget screen that you get when you swipe right from the main home screen to be accessible from within apps like Control Center
  • All nearby iCloud devices shown in Now Playing (like HomePods but for iPads, iPhones, Macs, etc)
  • Synced alarms and timers in the Clock app
  • Universal/synced Notification Center
  • Standalone Dictionary app for iPad and iPhone
  • All iCloud devices to be shown in the Battery widget
  • “Contacts only” filter in Messages
  • Option to enable emergency alerts on the iPad
  • Widget for the Sports app to show upcoming games/scores of current and recent games
  • Ability to assign custom icons to folders so they’re easier to tell them apart
  • Custom icons for any apps (I can dream, right?)

Opacity setting for Widgets. I like my widgets background close to or completely transparent.

Allow 3rd party cloud apps to sync in the background without the app being open.

My prediction is that iOS 19 will have the ability to make genmoji icons for any app. It will probably still be a step behind just a simple icon picker in functionality.

Standalone Phone app for iPad (for WiFi calling) with access to voicemails and call history
Not sure how that would work, but I doubt the carriers would let Apple do this.

Yeah, it removes everything. No "recently updated" blue dot and no "offloaded" cloud symbol.
I might be alone in this opinion, but I love it that way. So sick of having to open all my apps after updating them to dismiss the little blue bubbles.

I‘m quite humble when it comes to requests:

Contacts / Phone
- Allow having multiple contact posters that are either directly assigned to individual contacts or contact lists / groups (I want a work poster tied to my work contacts and a casual one for everyone else)

Messages / RCS
- Add RCS group chat (and also for iMessage groups) typing indicators and read receipts (RCS UP functionality)
- Upgrade the RCS UP version to 2.7 to introduce reactions, inline replies and edit messages / undo send for RCS chats
- Add a toggle to turn off automatic RCS to SMS downgrades (in case of no data), to prevent accidental charges by sending SMS/MMS (since the coloring is identical)
- Add a toggle to disable sending SMS altogether, similar to MMS (it‘s obsolete for me, I don‘t receive a single SMS, not even 2FA codes, and want it gone as an accidental charges rabbit hole, especially when abroad)
- Add a toggle to turn off sending typing indicators (as specified by RCS UP)
- Allow us to pick which conversation type we want to start (also add a dropdown menu to the conversation sheet to specify which protocol to use) so we can force e.g. RCS to be used at all times for a specific contact (for people who have both iPhone and Android, but mainly use their Android).

Notifications
- Introduce notification channels like Android has, force developers to provide channels for their apps and have them transparently listed in the apps notifications settings (so Apps have to send their ads / marketing to a dedicated marketing channel, which we can then turn off… looking at you Lieferando..)

iPadOS
- Multiple-users support. It‘s time and you already got me to buy my wife an iPad… still would love it for the rare occurrence where she uses my iPad

iOS 18 is still an unergonomic mess. Apple and Google have both still not rebuilt their OSes for the default large-screen devices we have. Too many crucial interactions are outside the thumb 'hot zone', notably notifications and the control centre.

I want them to bring them both into the multitasking screen and use otherwise wasted space to copy the bottom-up notifications on the lockscreen. Control centre would sit to the right of the top-most app when swiping up. Summoning it on the lockscreen would replace the camera-swipe.

(These are my prototype images)

My only wish that I've wanted for years is split screen on the iPhone. Being able to run two apps at the same time. Considering the iPhone 16 pro max is getting a screen increase to 6.9 inches and already has at least 8 gigs of ram. Should have no problem running two apps.
