Notification forwarding seemed like it was always possible. My Pebble over a decade ago was able to receive iOS notifications (but not interact). Does this new feature allow the device to interact with these notifications like an Apple Watch could?

As usual, Apple adds shiny new features with every update while introducing a fresh batch of bugs. Despite decades of loyalty, iOS feels like the only operating system that somehow gets worse over time. It is always we will fix it in the next release, and while that works for a while, it grows more irritating with every update. While I am sure the other camp has its own issues, I’m increasingly more interested in testing those waters. 👨‍🔬

The only thing I noticed from the update was the need to allow location sharing for the weather wallpaper I was already using. It was on in settings but I had to go to the specific wallpaper customization option to see the pop up for allow location.

Funny people on here complaining daily about Apple ready to leave because of Siri, but let’s ignore that fact…
The other reasoning won't be used is that people already have an Android phone. I do, the $400 price difference was too much to ignore.

This once again demonstrates that Apple doesn't care about the user, other than trapping them in their ecosystem. Why roll out forwarding only where they are facing legal pressure? Because Apple is NOT the friendly, privacy-centric, consumer-friendly firm they pretend to be in the market.

how does notification forwarding for third party watches relate to privacy lol?

Market share is irrelevant. Android vendors selling a gazillion sub $100 phones doesn’t change the success of Apple. A more important number is the user base, which has continually climbed every year.

Amazing a company making such “garbage” products continues to expand their user base. Every single year.

The user base has increased on the Android side just the same, because smartphone adoption is continually increasing globally.

I would love it if it were possible to set the weather wallpaper to display the weather from a specific place, not limited to my current location. I know how the weather is in my current location. I would love to see the weather where my family lives as my iPhone wallpaper. For me, that will be a neat feature.

I stopped resisting and installed iOS 26.3 Beta on my phone, watch, and computer. Fingers crossed, no problems so far.
For those doing this, I always do a double reboot after the install, and that seems to help with any potential problems.

The setting is located in the Notification section of the Settings app under a new "Notification Forwarding" option. Apple says that notifications can only be forwarded to a single device at a time, so if Notification Forwarding is enabled with a third-party wearable, the Apple Watch won't be able to receive and display notifications.

Seriously? Only Apple can't figure out how to show a notification on multiple devices. I can't say I'm surprised though - they can't even figure out how to sync them nicely across their own devices.

Wanted to read some MR updates but those new pop up ads (circumventing my ad blocker) are making the experience feel akin to a navigating a piracy site.
If you use and enjoy MacRumors enough, then perhaps you should consider supporting their work. It costs a lot of money to make this content for us all. I hate ads as much as you and anyone else, so I pay MR about $4 per month for what I consider to be an excellent source of news, useful information, and sometimes time-wasting entertainment via comments.
