So did the update hour ago and when it came to the apple logo and progress bar it turned off and hasn’t come back on since …
Been on black screen for the past hour ….
Power button does nothing and attempting force restart nothing …
Any advice ..

I would plug into iTunes and see if you get any response. The best would be to DFU back to your last backup. But if you can't get any response from the device, you may need to reach out to Apple support for help.
I'd actually suggest you try to use Apple Configurator to do a revive first. That way you can get essentially a DFU restore without having to lose any data. Failing that, a full DFU restore would be next.

Yeah, seems like there’s all sorts of mixed reports on this one. Probably best to stay away, luckily I’m in no rush to upgrade from 26.4
Well not iOS but using Apple Devices to do the upgrade. Both iOS 26.4.1 and 26.4.2 are safe to update to and is recommended for lots of reasons. Tons of under the hood changes it seems.

Noticed that Stolen Device Protection had been enabled for me with this update, so I immediately toggled it off. I hope that my battery does not drop another % point after this update (which it did, to 99% after upgrading to iOS 26, then 98% after 26.4.1 🙁).

Same here. I just looked after reading your post and same thing. I may leave it for now to see how annoying it becomes. If not so bad may just leave it.

It seems to have fixed the problem, but I'm old enough to be skeptical until it's gone a few days without recurring.
Alas, the skepticism was warranted. answering or attempting to make a call results in Call Failed mot of the time, but not all of the time. This sucks. Anyone have a suggestion?

New iOS bug?

Look at this screenshot from my Mail app.

Look at the e-mail from MacRumors.

The site logo is grotesquely positioned on the extreme upper left corner of the squircle. And the outline of this squircle is only visible in this particular logo. Not in the logos in the other e-mails.

I decided to update to 26.4.2 since today may be my last chance to perform an update until October. It is currently in progress - I am updating via Apple Devices, despite not receiving any confirmed reports of a successful Apple Devices update yet... and numerous posts upthread stating that it's not safe!

I guess I will see shortly whether or not any bugs have since been fixed. Of course, I backed up first. I will report back shortly.

Installation seems to have gone well - it completed in about 15 minutes, including the time it took to download the IPSW since Apple Devices doesn't do that now until you initiate an update. I can report that installing this update in Apple Devices is currently safe and completed successfully.

Unfortunately the issues with the Paypal app i mentioned in the 26.4 thread persist in 26.4.2. I've spent the last couple of hours on the phone with Apple Care about it, trying to resolve it. And they are equally stumped as I am!

26.4.2 is running very well on my new to me 16PM.

Battery life is solid (91% BH) and performance is super fast and smooth.

Was thinking about jumping on 26.5 RC but reading that thread is putting me off! lol.

Staying off 26.5 on iPhone 16 pro max purely because of the ads in Apple Maps .
26.4.2 been super stable and had no issues so see no need to update .

Strange bug in 26.4.2 after installing it a couple of days ago - my safari favorites seem to have duplicated themselves, in order, so they are all present twice. They start again from the beginning after the last one

Since installing 26.4.2, whenever my phone restarts, I no longer receive the notifications telling me that my Apple Watch is fully charged.

So now, each time my phone restarts, I have to go into the Watch’s Sleep settings and toggle “Charging Reminders” off and then back on in order to start receiving the charging notifications again.

Really hope iOS 27 truly focuses on fixing all of these obnoxious little bugs.
