Apple's software engineers are testing iOS 26.4.2, according to the MacRumors visitor logs, which have been a reliable indicator of upcoming iOS versions.

iOS 26.4.2 should be a minor update that fixes bugs and/or security vulnerabilities, and it will likely be released either this week or next week.

iOS 26.4.2 will come after iOS 26.4.1 and before iOS 26.5.

iOS 26.4.1 was released earlier this month. The update fixes a few bugs, including one that affected iCloud data syncing in select apps.

iOS 26.5 is in beta. The update lays the groundwork for Apple Maps ads and end-to-end encryption for RCS messages in the Messages app, but it is a minor update overall as Apple starts to shift its attention towards iOS 27.

I'm wondering why the security updates are so fast and furious. I wonder if miscreants are having success leveraging AI? Or is there some other reason?

26.4.1 in 17PM has caused that iPhone does not reconnect automatically to network after a no-signal interval in basement or parkings. I have to toggle airplane mode off-on to force a reconnect!!!. It was working perfectly until this version. Apple really is becoming more and more unprofessional.

The sentence in the article stated the obvious, sort of like "5 comes after 4 and before 6". His response was sarcasm.
Indeed. It was a completely superfluous piece of detail.

Knowing that 26.4.2 is coming is worthwhile to know. But Apple have pretty much given up putting out updates for earlier OSs other than the “last”. I’d not expect 26.4.2 to be released after 26.5.

Sloppy writing or more likely AI suggestion that should have been excised.

I would have went with

The sentence in the article stated the obvious, sort of like "8 comes after 7 and before 9".... unless 7 8 9, at which point "8 comes after 7 and before 10"

26.4.1 has been okay for me, but Zollotech says it has introduced or reintroduced a few annoying bugs which he said he hopes will be fixed in a double-point update in the near future. Maybe he's getting his wish.

Is it normal for major iOS versions to be this buggy so many people 7 months after launch? With iOS 18 and earlier, wasn't performance fairly reliably smooth by version X.2 or so?

Colour me shocked
This kind of drivel is why I've almost completely stopped visiting the site and instead just view stories in RSS. At some point in the last year this site ******tified, writing vapid stuff like the above, as well as egregiously recycling "stories" by republishing nearly identical versions of the same things every couple weeks.

Hope the 26.4.2 update addresses a cellular connection issue. I've been seeing a very annoying issue since 26.4.1. Running dual SIM, and with one, it will completely lose all signal and then come back.
