The fourth developer beta of iOS 26 introduces 12 new CarPlay wallpapers.

The new CarPlay wallpapers are based on the official iOS 26 wallpaper for the iPhone, which has colorful semicircles with a Liquid Glass design.

MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris shared all of the wallpapers in a social media post. There are six color options, with light and dark variants for each, for a total of 12 wallpapers. The color options include blue, brown, gray, green, purple, and red.To see the new wallpapers in CarPlay, open the Settings app and tap on Wallpaper. Of course, you will need to have an iPhone running iOS 26 connected to your vehicle. In addition to the developer beta, a public beta of iOS 26 will likely be available this week, and the update should be released to the general public in mid-September.

All of the new wallpapers can be seen below. Some of the previous CarPlay wallpapers offered on iOS 18 have been removed.

Wooo, it's time to get pumped for the ALL NEW CarPlay in iOS 26. Apple has taken the best-in-class CarPlay to a whole new level, with the ALL NEW Liquid Glass design language and a more fluid and responsive experience. And Apple didn't stop there. Apple is proud to introduce some beautiful new wallpapers, making the ALL NEW CarPlay truly a game-changer. Apple can't wait to see the incredible things customers are able to do. Apple thinks you're gonna love it.

Oh, and one more thing. For the first time EVER, CarPlay now supports streaming video, making CarPlay truly the car-based OS for ultra pros!

This is no big deal. I'm waiting for Apple CarPlay to change the color of your vehicle through a electroluminescent vehicle wrap. Maybe even offer messaging to neighboring vehicles and pedestrians.

Does this qualify as distracted driving ?

If we, as a society, actually cared about this, we'd have actually enforced rules about smartphones as well as not allow "huge iPads" all over the inside of cars.

Literally about 8 out of every 10 drivers I see, daily, is playing around with a phone in their hand or some huge screen, while driving.

While I get there should be an option to choose your own, I hardly see it as a big deal. I don't really care about the background in Carplay all that much. I usually pick the blackest/grayest monotone color so it stays out of the way for contrast in general.

The reality is 95%+ of the time there's a map or music app open anyway, so who's really staring at it that long to even notice?

Carplay has tons of problems, for example on corolla it does not comunicate with the dashboard. With google auto I can see the next turn right in front of my eyes, with carplay it does not work and I have to look at the infotainment screen

I do not look at that screen so much when driving, pretty much only when I have Maps giving me directions ...
So me, I don't really care about wallpapers.

Nope. Not interested. It's just a phone. She does use Procreate on her iPad, as well as painting on canvas.

A phone?

It's the backdrop on a (usually) large screen interface in the car.

It'd be a wonderful spot for folks to use their own creations or preferred artwork choices.

Is it possible you are disagreeing with me because we have a history of arguing here on the forum?
😄

(it's ok if so - I get it ...)

The newer BMWs I’ve driven as loaners work just fine. Same with a rental Chrysler I had once. Sounds like a Toyota problem.

It's absolutely obsurd [sic] that Apple won't allow you to chose your own wallpaper!
Apple has to negotiate with multiple vehicle vendors like Honda, GMC, Ford, etc. to get them to include CarPlay in vehicles so my guess is that Apple ends up forced into providing a lowest-common-denominator system.
