Carplay has tons of problems, for example on corolla it does not comunicate with the dashboard. With google auto I can see the next turn right in front of my eyes, with carplay it does not work and I have to look at the infotainment screen

Yes lots of vehicle-specific issues. The entire interaction among the many vendors and Apple needs major improvement to facilitate pushing bug fixes and upgrades through to end users.

It's the backdrop on a (usually) large screen interface in the car.

It'd be a wonderful spot for folks to use their own creations or preferred artwork choices.

No. She has no interest in creating a different background for her phone. Or for CarPlay. Nor do I. They're just devices/tools that work fine the way they are.

It is good to see more color options. However Apple should allow one to select the wallpapers just like in any other device. Hopefully future versions will allow customizations.

The newer BMWs I’ve driven as loaners work just fine. Same with a rental Chrysler I had once. Sounds like a Toyota problem.

Reading around, looks like Apple Maps is the onky one that works with directions, while Google Maps/waze works on android too.

so I call Apple API ********, still I'm not gonna change the car for this

It’s up to Google to use the correct APIs.
If you are unsatisfied with that you can go to Android or consider a different car next time.
