Well pretty much all the bugs I reported, that are reproducible, were still present in the RC. Doubt today’s release is any different as the build number is 1 higher than the RC.

All the bugs are with new features or the Liquid Glass too. Examples:-

1. Battery charging status (including new changed to 80% in…) on lock screen shows in faint text after initial view, making almost impossible to see. The date is always correct brightness.

2. Using iOS in light mode, in email after viewing an email with a dark background, when yougo back to the email list the “filtered” button retains the dark background colour scheme. Exit mail and go back in and it’s back to correct colours.

Just two examples of many.

Updated to 15.7, then waited 30 minutes and tried again and 26 was offered... Maybe just servers overloaded and people being pushed around?

Apple recommends that you backup prior to switching it to a new phone. So you back up. New phone arrives. You try to transfer your old phone to your new by placing in proximity. But it tells you that you cannot, because the iOS build on your old phone is newer than that on the phone you just received. So you have no option but to set the new phone up as a new. Then you must update it to the newest version of iOS (new builds have come out since it left the factory). Then you can restore from backup. The only issue is all of the time wasted setting up the new iPhone, just to then restore from a backup.
I've always had the new phone upgrade itself as part of the transfer process... never had to set it up as a new phone first. Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

iOS 18 will be outdated tomorrow. It’s time for the new version, if not already on due to the beta process.
Nope, Apple just released iOS 18.7 and that is what I'll be updating to for the moment. Apple will continue to release security updates to iOS 18 for all devices until at least iOS 26.1 and I personally won't even consider updating to iOS 26 on my daily driver until then.

I have been using the developer beta since June. It was a crazy ride. My phone over heated, crashed and did some crazy things. It was fun. I did not get mad, because I was on the edge.
That is fine if you are using the phone as a toy, but it is an essential tool for most people and they just don't have the time to mess around with all the glitches.

Did do the betas, and just installed today on my iPhone 15 Pro. Everything's seems to be working very well. I was worried about legibility and I am having no problems. I'm sure some bugs will pop up, but so far I'm impressed with the new look and how fast everything is running.

That's a funny workaround. I remember this issue happening to me YEARS ago, but it hasn't done it for a very long time. Now, if the car has bluetooth selected as the audio source, it will just autoplay whatever the last media the phone was playing; be it a podcast or music.
It was an issue for me for years then it stopped happening for at least a generation, then it came back when the phone went USB C.

In my car things sound significantly better plugged in rather than Bluetooth, plus I film for work on the iPhone all day so I need to charge anyway so I always plug in.

Not sure if it will happen with Bluetooth and don’t want to take the quality hit / switch to wireless charging as I also have a PopSocket on my case to help with filming.

This was my main phone. I used it for all my finances, managed all my home devices and for traveling. I just figured work arounds and adjusted.

Updated 2 Macs, 2 iPads and 2iPhones, plus my Watch. All running fine so far, just a couple of small problems:

  • The complications on my Watch 10 were't showing, just blank spaces on every dial I had configured. They came back after about 10 minutes after I restarted the Watch for a second time.
  • The WöW (Wowweather) widget on my phone wasn't displaying, I removed it and re-added it and it worked straight away
  • Both Macs said there was no macOS update, I had to install 15.7 and then check again, both times it then showed up.
So far the Liquid Glass effects have been very subtle and if I hadn't been looking for them, I'd probably have missed them. They are for the most part nice and don't get in the way and don't make things illegible, to be honest, I am underwehlmed, after all the hype that was going on.

(I just went into setting on the Mac and changed from standard to clear and you can then see it on the icons, but it starts in Standard mode and that really minimizes the effect.

The only thing I'm missing is the "Tabs" button in Safari on the iPhone, it has been replaced by "..." and is then on the submenu that appears, as that is probably the most used button, I find that a step backwards, but otherwise it looks pretty good, so far.

Looking forward to trying out all the new features especially on the iPad. Won’t be updating right away. Will wait for a week.

If you have the setting turned on, it will limit to 80% charging.
If you don’t have the setting, or have it turned off, the phone will overheat, which will also limit it to 80% charging.

Either way, it’s often gonna stop at 80%.

On some days I see my 13 mini charge overnight to 80% and stays there, on other days goes to 100%. The charge rate also varies, sometimes it slowly charges (4 hours), sometimes fast (1 hour). During the day I use the phone very sparsely and by the end of the day around 09 pm the charge is down to 10%. Happens on working days and when I'm off work. It looks like it is trying to match my work/activity pattern and it often comes very close.
Note that I do not have Meta and Google apps that suck both battery and mobile data.

The charger is a cheap 7 Watt wireless charging pad that barely warms up when charging.

Oh and I haven't updated to iOS23 yet. It's now on 18.7 for a while.

I mean, it’s not influencing me.

Yes, I have a 401K. No, I don’t know exactly what stocks I’m making money on. That’s what my financial advisor is for and she’s killed it over the last two decades.
I got you, and yeah I figured as much. AAPL is something like 6% of the SP500, and is included in nearly all retail funds. You'd have to go out of your way to avoid it, ie only owning bond funds, small-cap, or international funds with explicit ex-US portfolios.

Anyone seeing some weird charging behavior after update? Like reaching 80% and the charge being put on hold due to temperature? I am using a 5 watt magsafe charger, so I doubt it is really a heat issue. I have the phone set to a charge limit of 85%. This worked fine before with ios 18.6.2..... Weird.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 14 here and no problems going straight to 100%.
Strange. It is sitting at 80% says 34 minutes left until 85% but not moving above 80% so far. Granted 5 watts is very low rate but should start moving. Nope just went on hold again.... Going to set it to 100% and let Optimized Charging do its thing. Maybe that will kick start it.

Going to be very annoying if I cannot charge past 80%. Great for the battery but not me.

So, it looks like shutting off charging limit and setting it to 100% with optimized charging enabled now allows it to charge to 82%, lets see if it will allow it to go higher.

Working fine now......
