Updated my workphone 5 hours ago, not been using it much but still at 100% charge. Iphone 16.
Its doesn't contain many apps, mostly MS stuff so its not your average phone that's cluttered with things such as whatsapp, X, Meta, insta and so on.

Will be interesting to see how it copes with a days work.

Can anyone comment on the battery life performance on 16P(M) vs iOS 18.6.2 but with Apple Intelligence turned off? TIA!

16PM here with AI enabled… battery runs down without any interaction. While sitting unattended for 25 minutes the battery dropped 2%
Thanks. Doesn’t surprise me with AI being enabled, but curious about the AI disabled data points.

Gave up downgraded, the fact it is hot the touch face down on a table screams something is very much wrong with this build and they need a quick patch. I do not even think it is AI data on / off cause AI is only invoked on command on apple devices.

“Further, Apple says that new features could require more resources, leading to a "small impact" on performance and battery life.“ (From the MR article)

“New features are exciting and help you get even more out of your Apple product, though some may require additional resources from the device. Depending on individual usage, some users may notice a small impact on performance and/or battery life.” (From Apple’s support document)

“Small impact”. Very funny. Be truthful, Apple. More like “iOS updates may incur a penalty of up to a 50-60% battery life loss compared to the device’s original iOS version. Since we disallow downgrading because reasons, the battery life loss is irreversible. Good luck”.

Still, congratulations to Apple for finally acknowledging this. They spent 18 iterations denying it.
In other words, the battery life will only be as advertised for the first year of your brand new device on the original ios version that comes with. After that, buy our new shiny new phones if you want good battery again because we dont give a f**k about your device anymore.

If you downgrade to 18 , but the watch has already been upgraded to 26, will it work?

There are many variable for all battery drain. I have 16OM with AI enabled as well, and yesterday my phone was taken off the charger around 7am, had some very mild usage and it was the first day it sat untouched for a few hours due to a busy day at work, to my surprise I looked around 10:30 am and it was still at 100%.

As I've mentioned in other threads, I had iOS RC installed for a few days and had no issues apart from quirky bugs, then upgraded to public release. Since then, the battery has been way better than 18.6.2 for me.

Your results will vary it seems.

The first 10% (100-90) last a long time on any phone and firmware
How does your battery drain when you open/close the control panel, unlock the screen, launch/close applications?

I had exactly the same experience regarding battery drain, updated my workphone (iPhone16, almost new) and the drain when idle or light usage is very small. Makes me wonder if its the adaptive power mode is working great when the device is idle or something else.
Now, my workphone isn't cluttered with apps so compared to my regular 16pro it has a much easier life.

Current status is:

Took it off the charger at 18:09 yesterday, was still at 100% around 23:00 and now down to 94% at 13:13.

Just reinstalled iOS 26.0 from my Mac via IPSW.
Build number newer 23A341 vs 23A340.
Battery a little better.
Same here I did it last night over the air

It’s public release instead

Will do a test run this afternoon when I go to school

It isn’t this drastic, but essentially, yes. I have zero sympathy towards willing “updaters”, though. If you update willingly, you should know this (and should accept the consequences, which aren’t reversible after some time).

Especially for people who keep devices for years on end rather than sell and upgrade every year.

16P & 15PM IOS26 (23A341) Excellent battery life, period.
