iOS 26 Beta 4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

In Safari, I no longer have a solid black background in tab view. Hooray.

Also, lots of new splash screens. And the Music Library bug where all the release dates were one year off has been fixed.

Few quick things I can tell:

I still can't change my Apple ID password from my phone. It's locked with an alphanumeric password, but prompts for a 1-digit passcode instead. Works fine on my iPad running 18.5.

Reduce transparency accessibility option still causes the text-selection bubble to be opaque, so not a viable choice unless it is the only way you can read parts of your screen.

"Add to Home Screen" in Safari is now working again.

I have it installed. It looks like they made certain things slightly more "liquid glassy", but not as much as it was in Beta 2. A good middle ground.

You can finally see the whole URL in safari in compact mode.

They fixed search in classic phone view. Also fixed a problem where favorites contact posters would show up as black.

There is still some ugly pinstriping on the Reminders and Calendar widgets in dark mode that I never noticed in iOS 18. They look fine Clear, but Dark is ugly.

People keep sharing Control Center and I'm pretty sure that hasn't changed at all since beta 2. The above comparison is between light and dark mode. The real changes are in the tab bars.

App switcher is back to working the way it used to — upon swiping up, the current app is pushed far to the right and the next app is pushed to the center of the screen.

Liquid Glass still looks the same to me. More frosted, than liquid. Maybe things are a bit smoother. Too soon to judge yet. 16 pro.

Running the beta on my iPad. The dynamic tinting in Notification Center is great. Big improvement!

Finally was able to add my phone number to iMessage, thank goodness
