Are yall ever excited for anything? If you told me this was an Apple hate group this would all really make sense!

It's a forum tradition. Apple never knows what it's doing when it develops and releases new products.

iPod (who asked for a thousand songs in your pocket?).
iPhone (who asked for a non-mechanical keyboard?).
iPad (it's just a big iPhone).
Watch (if I need to know the time I'll just look at my iPhone).

Etc...

Profile switching - With the Face ID feature, the home hub will be able to switch to the profile for the person in the home who is interacting with the device.
How many nanoseconds will it be before users demand Profile switching on iPad?

Interested to see how this turns out.

I can’t imagine this will be an exciting product for me personally but hopefully I’m wrong and Apple makes it into something interesting.

I guess we can read our emails, look up recipes and view security cameras, and answer the phone.

And that says it all really. Doesn’t even generate much enthusiasm on a website specifically for Apple fans. I think anything that mentions Siri is an instant downer. It’s just so bad. Hopefully the new version will do what’s promised but we shall see.

It's amazing how reliable leaks and rumours about Apple are. What would happen if this information didn't exist? There would be less talk about Apple, which leads one to suspect that this is all part of Apple's marketing strategy and is intentional, especially at a time when Apple isn't really doing anything groundbreaking and probably never will again. Marketing can be so cheap when you do it with rumours.

Google had smart speakers well before the Home Hub with a screen connected to a speaker base. Then Google introduced a similar screened hub allowing you to remove the screen from the speaker base and use it as a tablet. This is where Apple is headed.

The Nest Home Hub in our house is on the kitchen counter displaying photos, playing music and playing any video/audio streaming content asked of it. Asking for and following a food prep recipe on-screen is very cool. It'll pause and ask when you're ready for the next step.

I'll probably buy the Apple Home Hub day one.

The competition is releases ai-glasses. Regardless of how useful you think such are, clearly it is more cutting edge than a screen attached to a hump. This home hub looks like it comes straight from the early 2000s. Ugly and about as useful as a Vision Pro.

More importantly; why release an iPad fused to a hump when the customer could just get an iPad that they can take with them anywhere.

Dumbest thing I’ve seen this year.

I am not sure how I would use this in my home. Do I use the phone in my pocket, reach for the iPad on the coffee table, or walk to whatever sideboard I have put this 'home hub' onto and awkwardly stand there for however long it takes me to use this device?

It's not as if I have any sideboard or kitchen counter space spare for this... thing.

Just get on and release an Apple TV refresh and let that be my 'hub'.
