I have gone through the update process of transferring from an iPhone 14 PM to a new 17 PM. Starting with iOS 26, 26.0.1, and even trying 26.1 beta 4, I am having issues with the icons on the home screen rewriting.

More importantly, I can not move any icon which is on the home screen!

I can hard-press any icon until it wiggles or the menu pops up and select the edit home screen, but then the icon either:

1. Does nothing (can not move it).

2. Disappears for 10-20 seconds!

3. Other random icons start to disappear while holding down on the target icon, then after letting go of the icon, after another 10-20 seconds, all icons reappear!

But, I was never able to move the icon on the screen or into a folder of icons.

Within a folder, I am able to select an icon and move it, but after placing it and letting go, it sits frozen, off-center for approximately five (5) seconds, then centers and restarts wiggling!

I have searched, but have not found any similar incidents. Has anyone seen this?

This seems to be a software problem, and I hope Apple can fix it!

P.S. Another problem is the phone heating up during downloading.

Update: While moving icons inside a folder, I noticed that the moved icon sits off-center then adjusts to center, so this must be the default.

The disappearing icons return immediately on screen when I started to swipe to another screen page.

I have been able to successfully move an icon between folders.

I am still not able to move any icons on any section of the home screen itself which is necessary when downloading apps.

This appears to be related to the icon rewrite problem that others have commented on.

It seems that the most common situation for those who don’t experience the icon rewrite/redraw (whatever you want to call it) is that they don’t use folders to contain apps and web links. On both of my wife’s devices, the M1 iPad Pro and iPhone 14 Pro, this issue never appears, but she uses no folders on those devices, even though she has more Home Screens than I do on my new devices, 17 Pro Max and M5 iPad Pro. I have heard from some who do use folders who do not experience this, but it seems for some reason that for those of us who do use folders, the issue is very common and persistent.
