Think I might turn it off. Was immediately disappointed during the on screen presentation at WWDC. Glad that there is an option to go back to normal method.
Lol !!!"Here's what I found for screenshots on the web."
I have a slightly different problem: I inadvertently take screenshots just by picking up the phone. I wish Apple had left the power button on the top of the device, rather than opposite the volume buttons (though I realize that's inconvenient with ginormous phones).
Nope.Do you have screenshots set up for back tap in Settings > Accessibility? If so, that could cause your problem.
Replying to my own post - I cannot confirm if iOS26 retains this behavior. Can someone who has the beta check? Was hoping the beta would drop yesterday. I suspect Apple delayed it one day just to make the rumors false :-\iOS 18 does have this option. After tapping 'Done' there is a 'Copy and Delete' option, which is perfect for your use case (which is also often a use case for me).
… i wished it was available on the iPhone too …Nice, I didn’t know (or forgot) that option exists.
iOS 26 beta 4 does retain this behavior, but there's no "Done" button in the controls at the top and bottom of the screenshot--instead, to get the menu that includes "Copy and Delete", you tap on the checkmark button in the upper right corner (though maybe that's what you meant), and this menu also includes "Save to Photos", "Save to Files", "Save to Quick Note", and "Delete Screenshot".Replying to my own post - I cannot confirm if iOS26 retains this behavior. On my iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.5, screenshot is a quick press and release of the side button and volume up button at the same time, while holding down those two (or side button and volume down button) for several seconds gets the emergency screen. This is default behavior. I've taken probably a hundred or so screenshots this way since I got my 16 Pro.The article says "Taking a screenshot is still done by pressing the Side button and Volume Up button on your iPhone", but on my iPhone 16 Pro Max, that button combo invokes the Emergency SOS call option instead (it also accepts the Volume Down plus Side buttons).
Thanks, that was the problem--I kept holding the buttons down waiting for a screenshot to be taken. On my iPhone 16 Pro, iOS 18.5, screenshot is a quick press and release of the side button and volume up button at the same time, while holding down those two (or side button and volume down button) for several seconds gets the emergency screen.
