iOS 26: Send Photos Faster With This Hidden Toggle

8K is a gimmick. It’s the same as thinking the only measure of photo quality is how many megapixels the sensor has.

iPhone ProRes Log 4K mops the floor with Samsung’s 8K.

People said the same thing about 1080p, then about 4k.

Definitely I will not be using this. Always prefer the highest quality possible. Of course it is beneficial if recipient is having poor connectivity. But I am sure I will be keeping this off.

There’s one particular group chat with a friend on an unreliable/old Android. Every couple of weeks, I can’t send an image through RCS because their phone is acting up. I have to switch to MMS. This would probably solve that problem.

I won’t leave the toggle on all the time, but I’ll try it next time there’s an issue.

Wonder if it works like jpeg where partial information is sent first, followed by more and more detail…

In my experience this toggle also completely removes support for Live Photos.
