yep

The truth is that if Apple releases the first public beta tomorrow, it would be the first time something like this has happened. At least as far as I remember, they've never released the developer and public betas in the same week until the weekly beta release cycle began. So I see it as equally likely that we'll have to wait two weeks for beta 5 as it is that they'll release it next week, moving up the weekly release cycle to give themselves more time to fine-tune iOS 26 as much as possible.

The first iOS 14 public beta was released 2 days after iOS 14 beta 2 in the same week.

iOS 14 had different timings due to the pandemic. It was released later than usual, and they had to accelerate the timeline for everything.
We don't know for sure if that's why. But either way, iOS 10 beta 2 was released on July 5, and the public beta was released July 7. And with iOS 9, beta 3 was released July 8, and the first public beta was released the next day.

Was it a while ago? Yes. But that's 3 times in 10 beta cycles (Apple started public beta testing with iOS 9) that they released the first public beta within 2 days of a new build, not counting revised versions. So that's 30%. If the public beta is released today, that would be 36%

I am pretty certain that Public Beta 1 will come today with the same build as DB4 released yesterday. Not that it matters much, as I have already installed DB4 on my daily iPad Air. 😊✌️

Do I have to wait the next beta to download the developer beta? I have beta 4 now which is similar to public Beta 1
?

There is no public beta … yet

Beta 5 is expected in 2 weeks… this is when you need to update. If public drops today please don’t mix the release channels, at least this is what I would recommend.

Have DB4 installed on my iPad and using it without problems. But... my iPad is more or less a media consumtion station atm.

Debating with myself if I should try PB1 on my iPhone or not. Normally I wait a bit longer... but... well... did a backup on my Mac already.

There is no big deal breaker as far as I found (I have it against all other opinions on my main device since b1).

Only if you want to use the new PayPal card in the alternate Wallet in Germany you should wait. This is still broken since b2 …

Thanks. Well don't use that.

Still have time to overthink this. But I looove trying new things out. There is no holiday ahead until mid September, I don't need this phone for work so...
