Oh boy, I’m expecting a major visual overhaul to introduce more bugs that will plague the OS for the large part of the software cycle. It happened with iOS 7.

I don't understand why people are not as enthusiastic as they used to be under Jobs for these amazing new OS updates that consist primarily of a new skins?? Where is the sarcasm button?
Because Jobs actually understood usability. These morons today simply think that more unused space and apparent simplicity are improvements. They are not. Do they have nice clean UI. Sure do, but is is completely unusable. Do you have your Apple device to look at it, or use it?

Apple is not sure anymore.

This site and other rumour sites are just Gurman repost stations. Wonder if Bloomberg will come after you for the loss of potential ad/subscription revenue lost from the lack of visits to Bloomberg. 😂

Completely agree. Steve brought about the perfect balance between style and function. This is why I don't think Ive's is doing anything as good as what he did under Steve (from what I have seen at least).

It will be Dark Mode “light”. Ha ha.

I have a bit of frosted glass in one of my apps for a while now, I like it better in dark mode than in light mode. ;)

I can't wait to see it. Fingers crossed it won't be a step into poop the same way iOS 7 felt, I can't wait for the iOS 7 design era to finally end. The last good looking version was 6.1.4, it went downhill from there.

For someone with Dry Eye Syndrome that is greatly effected by light, shine, etc., reading this makes me wonder if I might need to avoid upgrading or it could make my phone unusable to me and force me to switch to Android. Just have to wait and see what it will allow us to disable and change. I need to keep my phone with a very dark look but still have everything stand out crisply and not blend/flow together. Transparency is a very bad thing for my eyes.

At least MacOS gets it at the same time as iOS. It was sad seeing it lagging behind in the 2010s, as if the goal of the Mac teams was just to copy iOS.

I would rather see it "lagging behind" than yearly releases full of pointless feature bloat and UI updates

So they redid system settings and people complained, that was because it got to be too many icons in the old system settings, the rest of MacOS is not copying iOS or iPadOS. :D
Now where is Classical port?

Absolutely agree. If they go back to something similar to the design of iOS 6 I will install the beta immediately

All I want is a redesigned keyboard that actually works and split screen iphone apps
The keyboard needs to be re designed i can’t type on it compared to android. And just give us split screen apps
In my experience, the keyboard does work. I can type with it quite easily and accurately compared to every Android keyboard app I have ever used (Google Keyboard, SwiftKey, Samsung Keyboard, etc), no matter the screen size of the Android device in question, and no matter the height setting of the keyboard. And I am acutely aware that this is not everyone's experience with it, but it is mine and likely the experience of most. Trying to fix something that already works for most users will just result in disaster.

Also, I don't see the benefit of adding support for split-screen to iOS. Split-screen works best on iPad, due to the larger screen. It just doesn't really make a lot of sense to add it to iOS when most people very likely wouldn't use it anyways and because of the fact that the screens on iPhones just honestly aren't big enough for split-screen to be actually usable unless you like apps feeling cramped without the entire screen being the app's canvas. Additionally, split-screen would just put additional strain on the limited iPhone system resources compared to Macs and iPads which have more RAM and more powerful SoCs.

It has been widely reported that they are dedicating a lot of effort and time toward improving the stability and reliability of the operating system with iOS 26. Also, I was one of the people who really liked iOS 7 when it came out, it looked really nice at the time and actually modernized iOS quite significantly, but it has gotten long in the tooth after such a long time of having the same user interface. I also, to be honest, never really witnessed any bugs with iOS 7 at launch, save for the app inconsistencies that were there at the start while everyone updated their apps to adapt the new design.

However, to say the least, we definitely need a design overhaul after nearly 12 years of the OS remaining basically the same. Apple's platforms have also greatly diverged in user interface consistency since. None of their platforms have any consistency anymore in design language, and it shows. It is far past time that Apple dedicated a release cycle to overhauling their platforms to bring back consistency across them, and to create a consistent design language that can be applied across their entire range of platforms, including iOS, iPadOS, and macOS. Plus if I'm being honest, it would nice to see fun UI elements be brought back to iOS. I definitely don't expect skeumorphism to be brought back, but it would be nice to see more fun effects and UI elements. I just want to see iOS have design consistency across all of its different apps and UI elements again, including the Lock Screen and Control Center.

Thankfully we only have less than 3 days until we find out what Apple have cooked up, so we'll find out what "Solarium" will look like in practice then.

why post anything Gurman says, he is always wrong, he will keep changing things until the last min, and when nothing he says comes to past he will delete his post and back track.
